hunkpapa:
hello! do you know any good funk bands? not sure if it's your sort of thing, but i'm looking for some ideas.
hunkpapa:
yeah, perhaps I could have been more specific biggrin those you suggested are tempting, especially the Club Africa one (are the two reviews a good representation of what it sounds like?). I was thinking of a christmas present for a friend, and he likes stuff like Parliament and Sly and the Family Stone, and I wasn't sure what to get. Funnily enough, I just looked up Sly on last.fm, and one of the recommended similar artists is Shuggie Otis, so that might be a good idea. cheers smile

I just noticed the comment you left in my gallery back in October. I suck, I know. To answer your question, I try to sell prints, but with little success. What about you? I wouldn't mind having a print or two of those waterfalls in my livingroom.
towelb0y:
print sharing? why, that sounds crazy enough to work! let me know which ones you want. I added some more to my gallery...it looked a bit neglected.

My man Richard our guitarist has used some video footage shot by my son Lewis to create this rather fecthing promo video of the band.
Let me know what ya think.
The tack running under the video is from the new album and obviously not in sync with everything in the vid.

The Big Smoke....Is that Tornonto? I forget what that refers to. How about I bring a bagel for Mrs Kpan and the rest of the family?
velvet_petal:
Heh. My blog was written a bit tongue in cheek & over the top. Not to detract from my feelings, as I'm pretty decisive about people when it comes to these matters....but really, where I'm at is the, "Hey, I like you. I'd really like to get to know you better." stage. When that sort of feeling arises, I generally like to hang out casually and do just that and see if we get on/ versus rushing headlong toward some end goal. In this case though, that's a little difficult to achieve. Geography is one of the obstacles, even if I'm fortunate and feelings are somewhat returned. Anyway, don't want to talk it to death. It was a bit out of character for me to even bring it up, actually.

About the playing though, the thought of breaking out the guitar.......feel kind silly. Don't know if there would be the appropriate moment or if I could do it. I'm enjoying playing though, if only as a means for me to grapple with my feelings. Maybe it is therapeutic.

P.S. About your humor....you would never offend me with anything you would have to say. You are too kind don't have a mean bone in your body.

First practice then performing hopefully. Started playing when I was 8 but I've barely played since we got new neighbours five years ago - they started using the room next to where my Sonor kit was set up and got pissy about the noise. So Roland kit + headphones = fun again!
jagg:
Hmmm. I'd have to say Mike Portnoy, Nicko McBrain or possibly a bit of Tico Torres. Stick with the classics!

falling into negativity...

I'm a victim of that myself. I think most people are. Last year around this time I went into therapy. I stopped going in January. That short stint taught me a lot about myself. I've become a lot more self aware. I think self awareness is really important when you fall pray to negativity again and again. You can catch yourself crawling through the rabbit hole and stop dead in your tracks and repair yourself with minimal damage.

That's what I've been doing for months and the more practice I get the better at it I become. It definitely helps having people tell you how great you are in a myriad of ways. If they can see it, they can't all be wrong.

Right?
niccie:
Thank You Sir and I'm so excited for Scapegoat hill pictures.. biggrin
