Show me a better bassline than "My Generation" and I'll eat my hat.

Also, dictionary_girl says my speaking voice sounds like Conner Oberst's speaking voice. What does that mean?

Thanks for your concern, but there's nothing i can do. And like I said in one year I won't be using any potable water. So if you want to go ahead an do the math, say i live another 80 years, that one year of a dripping faucet amounts to 12 gallons a year. I can live with that. And I'd still be willing to bet we use less than 1/2 of what other people use. Because the water we don't use adds up just as quickly.Choose your battles.

clearly, it means you need to start weeping gently onto your coat sleeves and writing music to appease the masses of swoopy hair emos.

Dizzy in the head now, I'm feeling blue
Things you say, well, maybe they're true
I'm getting funny dreams again and again
That cannot be explained

(Sorry if half of those lyrics are wrong, I just typed them from the top of my just-woken-up head. biggrin )

When I first joined this site, it was possible to know every SG's name, to have seen every set, and remember who liked what kind of music. There were only 50 or 60, after all! In fact I used to try to remember their "real" names, now I can't even remember their stage ones! Makes me sad, one of the attractions to this site for...

Hey, I *really* like your Charlotte / Ash interview.
dem_z:
I liked the clear coherent intro. It managed to tell me about the band's history and what they're doing now, and about their trouble with the US. I liked the clear coherent questions, which were a nice mix of informative and informal, and I liked the clear coherent write up of her answers. I've never met her, but it feels like you've managed to get across some of her personality. So, yeah. smile

Thank you so much, everyone, for all your birthday wishes. They warmed my icy heart.

My birthday was good. My mom took Rebecca and I out to lunch, and gave me some money. Always a good thing. Landlord came by, paid the rent, did some SG work, went and got some food, ice cream, vodka, and orange juice, and drank screwdrivers and listened to the...

High On Fire's press release describes their sound as "Motrhead meets Slayer," which is actually a pretty good indication of what to expect when you put on their new album, Blessed Black Wings, which opens with the roaring "Devilution" like a latter-day Ace of Spades. Produced by the legendary Steve Albini, Blessed Back Wings surprises by not finding the band's sound all that...

Matt came to the oakland BBQ like a year ago and stole my beer. He's a great guy . hahha.
takeahnase:
The last time I met Matt, he was passed out on a sofa in Nice & Sleazy's in Glasgow, so we ended up doing shots of Jager in an attempt to keep him awake. He's seriously one of the funniest guys I've ever met though.

But I dont care
Their words are just
Rules and regulations to me, me

I-i walk in a room, you know I look so proud
Im movin in this here atmosphere, well,...

You pick up the new album Leviathan by Atlanta, Georgia's Mastodon, and you notice a couple of things: here you've got cover art straight from the Molly Hatchet playbook, a concept album about Moby Dick, and nary a curse word or satanic invocation in sight. Don't expect Leviathan to be heavy? Well, you'd be wrong, motherfucker, because Mastodon just might be the heaviest band...

Ash have been together for fifteen years and have released four studio albums, two of which were number one hits in the UK (1977 and Free All Angels), and the other two (Nu-Clear Sounds and the new Meltdown) "merely" top-ten. In fact, they've had enough hits in the UK and Europe to warrant a two-disc collection of their singles and b-sides,...
