Yesterday was interesting. Took Leeroy to Petsmart with Rebecca to get him some new toys -- he had completely obliterated all his other ones.
So we got him this bouncy toy that looks like a barbell -- he loves to play catch with it, and a stuffed monkey toy that has rope for limbs. He picked that one out. And we got him a bully... Read More
My, what a prescient comment. This morning, the dog had something in her mouth that was wriggling-- I thought it was a lizard at first, but it turned out to be a baby bird.
I know it's the law of the jungle or something, but it was gross and sad.
Ever have one of those paydays where it's almost all gone before you even get home from the bank?
Yeah.
Well Saturday afternoon I noticed that the tail end of Leeroy's stool was really loose. Then later that evening he wouldn't eat his dinner, and acted really lethargic.
Sound familiar? My first thought was that the sickly pound puppy from a few weeks ago had... Read More
For those of you (i.e. Windows users) able to use Microsoft's .Lit Reader, here's an e-book of one of my favorite books of all time -- one of those books that blew my pubescent mind, y'know? It's the first book in the Elric of Melnibone series by Michael Moorcock, who I quoted in an earlier post. Elric is an anti-hero, and his story is... Read More
I must admit, now that the prospect of uninterrupted sleep looms large, the puppy seems better. Maybe I was just cranky.
Here's how yesterday went.
[Me comes home at 7:30AM]
Me: "Hey honey, Doris's neighbor is giving away a bassett hound puppy."
Her: "Oh really?"
Me: "Yeah, you should call her."
Her: "Okay."
[me goes to sleep]
...time passes..
[Noon. Rebecca wakes me up.]
Her:... Read More
Remember a few entries ago where I wondered what kind of soulless bastard you'd have to be to not like puppies?
Turns out: me. I like puppies like l like children, it turns out: in 30 second doses, and only at their cutest and most well-behaved. For example, in photographs. LOL.
I just don't know what to do. I want Rebecca to be happy, and... Read More
It's not that easy to find something you're willing to spend twenty years with. How long did it take you to find a wife?Don't feel bad, you've just got to find the right dog... for both of you. I promise
One of my favorite, and certainly my favorite in the realm of sci-fi/fantasy, authors, Michael Moorcock, wrote some interesting essays on the hidden conservative nature of most science fiction and "high" fantasy. I spent an hour or so tonight reading them.
One is called "Epic Pooh", and takes writers like Tolkien and C.S. Lewis to task for their reactionary, anti-modern Tory conservativism.
The news that the new intel-based Macs can dual-boot Windows erases one of my biggest reservations toward their systems -- software compatibility. In fact, with this, Macs are more compatible than any other system available, being now able to multi-boot OSX, Windows, and any variety of Linux and/or FreeBSD you want.
However, I can do -- and have done -- three out of those... Read More
Rebecca's been wanting a puppy for a long time. I'm not philosophically opposed to the idea of a puppy (what manner of cold-hearted bastard would you have to be to not like puppies?), but I just didn't think it was practical -- or fair to the dog -- when we were living in a studio apartment.
yes, well the other ones i was around were fully scented, believe me. i am sure my cats have cat smell as well. who knows.
