basically though, our interest in guns is purely conceptual. my girlfriend was disappeared by the NYPD for 30 hours during the RNC for riding her bike down the street and obeying traffic laws. after she was re-appeared, it was not without a record consisting of 8 completely fabricated charges and the hassle of what will be a significant amount of time spent in court pleading "not guilty." not as easy as you'd think when the judge says--on the record--"you may want to rethink your plea. if you keep pleading not guilty to these charges, we will not be so lenient during proceeding sessions."
we looked at each other, contemplating the judge's obvious commitment to impartiality and decided we should really start exercising as many rights as possible before it became any more of a problem. plus, the added kick of going to the same range where the FBI and NYPD shoot, and showing up with a bunch of the same kids that they're perpetually battling in the arena of quality of life (graffiti artists, musicians, protesters, etc) is sort of fun. it's nice to feel that it's as easy for us to violate their sanctity as it is for them to violate ours.

Yeah - I'm going to be around for a while. My work is so busy and all consuming that sometimes I just can't find the energy to be present here. And sometimes when I am worried about one of my students it is hard to write a journal because I just don't know what to say. Anyway, there have been a lot of domestic abuse issues and mental health issues coming up with the children at school and I have been pretty wrapped up with them.
But I'd rather be here. It's nice and light here.
Ok - I totally empathize with your loss of hope about art. I am completely going through the same thing except I don't that silkscreening to guide me. I think I could be a good ring maker. Maybe. But I think you must be an incredible artist. You are so smart, thoughtful and careful.....
