It's 5am and I'm sitting here nursing my e-mail while our flaky developers in the Ukraine upgrade our servers. Such is the life of a techie trying to earn brownie points *sighs*

The Ebay-athon continues apace with me dumping a whole load of comics i should never have bought in the first place. Made about 50 so far but I have *so* much crap I...

I believe it's the way forward but I reserve the right to change my mind after the day smile

Nah, I think it's gonna be ok, it is my choice and I stand by it smile

I will be seeing them all at some point over the Christmas break, but when I want to, not when it is dictated.

Hope you're going to have a good one hon.

So. The credit crunch looms ominously. I've been treading water for quite a while now financially and have been in effective denial regarding the size of my credit card bill, but things hit home two weeks ago when the CEO of our little company gathered us together to say, basically:

"Sorry guys, all that positive stuff we told you at the beginning of the summer...

Haha, no... it's therapy based on the key existential givens - that life is essentially meaningless (we create our own), that we are ultimately alone, that we are ultimately free and that the only thing we can be certain of is that we will die.

So I went to Prague for five days. Lovely place, nice beer, nice people, lots of interesting stuff to see. I've loaded a ton of pics to my folders if you want to go see. Staying up until 4am every morning drinking and playing cards did take its toll however and its taken me most of this week to recover. I've also been snowed under...

FAQ time! biggrin

Err, so like who the hell are you dude?

I'm the guy that you've probably met at several SGUK meets but either you never found out my name or just plain forgot. I shouldn't worry, I'm terrible with names myself. If I've met you and haven't friended you yet, then this will be why. It's nothing personal, I'm just rubbish. whatever

I've also recently...

He did go for an audition. He didn't get the part because his take on it was "too dark". I wish it was on tape, I'd kill to see it.
elysia:
I've actually not watched Severance in ages, but the trailer for it came up on another film that I was watching (Thank you for smoking), and I realised that I'd never used that line despite its obvious awesomeness. It has to be said though, that as a film it was a little confusing as to what it was meant to be - disturbing slasher flick? Brit com? It turned out to have aspects of each but failed at both in my opinion.

Agreed about serial daters. I'm by no means the most secure person on the planet, and maybe it's born from my own misanthropic loner lifestyle, but I've never felt the need to define myself by my relations with others, and that's almost what these people seem to need.

Well, when I was around thirteen I swear I saw a figure in my room. It really scared me at the time, but always assumed it was 'residue' from a dream, because I've heard of that happening before. I'm pretty sure there's a rational explanation for everything, but it's still creepy.
mat8drb:
I think someone's buying it soon. Maaaaybe.

I haven't played it. It does look awesome.

A month or so in movies:

A while ago I mentioned that Iron Man rocks. That may be something of an understatement - it rocks big time, and is possibly the most enjoyable film I have seen all year so far (possibly only to be topped by The Dark Knight next month. If you haven't seen it yet then you should...

He was talking about his son Joel a lot (who was sat on the sofa on the stage by his side) - a lot of anecdotes about family life etc. Then he went on to talk a little about his bizarre adventures with Robbie and then about a couple of his books, Them and Men Who Stare at Goats and that was it. We saw him and Joel every day throughout the festival and he looked so ordinary! I'd never heard of him before Latitude so he was one of my great finds biggrin

I've also had my house redecorated and now I'm sat here when I should be rearranging my furniture in my bedroom and clearing things away so that it looks nice in here. I have so much to do and don't really know where to start.

I'm also now contemplating whether I should move to Southampton or not. My head is fucked right now frown

Hope you have a wicked weekend honey.

So my birthday passed quietly this weekend. I was in Birmingham at the UK Games Expo helping out Esdevium (i.e. gettting paid to play board games) - I had a fun day even if it wasn't really a 'me' day. I came home pretty shattered in time to watch the last eps of Lost season 4...

Yuss. First had my tarot read when I was 18, at a psychic fayre in York dungeons. Lots more since, but the original was still the best. I started teaching myself, then went to an evening class (!) in Birmingham. That was while I was still at uni. I was quite good, I think, but I'm out of practice!

Just a flying post before I disappear off to Sweden this Easter weekend for more geeky shenanigans to say that all is well. I had an ace time in Birminham and it was great to hang out with faces old and new and to mosh like a bastard to some extremely old skool metal. I paid for it the next day but by god it...
