"Made" a new baby ball python rack...aka found something at Walmart and tailored it to my needs.

You should buy parts like that at the junkyards, they have the trade school kids rebuild everything and sell the parts for 25% or less of the new price, but with the exact same warranty. There are several junkyards/auto recyclers in ct that do this, many of them are owned by my friends and family members .... plus I donate shit tons of money to the trade school programs involved.

ok so you just wired something wrong. some factory speaker harnesses have a direct connection to ground on the negative speaker wires ... if you accidentally got the polarity reversed on the speaker connections a whole lot of fuses would blow ... and possibly fry the stereo too. I would try testing the stereo with just a battery and a couple of home speakers .... just to see if it's still working. be sure to check the fusable link for the car's main engine compartment fuse box .... the car will not run if this is blown.
