I do not like this snow. Not one bit.
But, at least it allowed my roomate and I to do some filming in Prospect Park.
I'm doing a video for the Appleseed Cast song "Birds of Paradise," and one of the scene needs a rocky mountain time zone setting. A snowy Prospect Park, when you don't see the lamposts and roads, can look surprisingly remote....

hey i don't think i've pointed this out before, even though it's painfully obvious

that you, dear boy, have an intensely beautiful body

Did I hear a rumor that after one New York winter you're already leaving? I certainly hope not. Snow can be annoying, admittedly, but its aesthetic appeal (at laest while it's falling) can't be denied.

Sorry to say my exploits in Europe haven't really involved much of the fairer sex. Might have something to do with my two fairly codependent companions who are both pining for their girlfriends whenever they're gone. Oh well, plenty of good looking women in New York, I suppose. smile

I'm reading "Fast Food Nation" which is a highly disturbing book.
One section of it examines the marketing and promotion MacDonalds does to get people to but food. The author points out a specific Happy Mean Deal with which I had a bizarre first-hand experience.

It's June 4th, 1998. I'm driving from Camden, New Jersey to upstate New York with my friend, Damon. We just...

I don't know what it's about. It's a Deftones' song. Digital Bath. I was listening to it, decided I needed a new journal entry, looked up the lyrcis, and posted them. There wasn't much of an ulterior motive.
aspen:
I'm just going for vacay. and I'm auditioning.
I read FF Nation.

A little partying with good friends in D.C. helped improve my attitude a little.

I've been feeling a little passionless lately, so I was looking over a story I wrote about a Nordic vampire, based on an ex-girlfriend of mine I was crazy about. We can't even talk to each other, things ended so poorly.
The story is about a woman who forgoes the usual...

oh, by gothic perhaps i was being too literal: "3. often not capitalized : of or relating to a style of fiction characterized by the use of desolate or remote settings and macabre, mysterious, or violent incidents"

i havent been smoking. or singing. i think its because i live close to the BQE. the air is opaque sometimes. i do want a cigarette, tho. i havent had one in over a week! hmmmm....
er:
i feel the same about rowing, as you do about swimming. it's so gorgeous, but i can't believe anyone actually does it. i have a friend whose exgirlfriend was on the US olympic team that went to sydney. these chicks are amazons. whoa.

it is true about the 14 yr old girls though - the guys i hang out with, who are in the top 20 nationally in the 30-40 age group, practice with the kids and struggle to keep up. it's really an amazing sport.

I don't even have enough fight in me to be angry. I am now officially down. Way down.

I just spent a bunch to get my computer fixed, which it needed. But it didn't solve my major problem. Now it looks like I might have lost an entire music video I did, and most of the stuff I had started working on for the "And...

Oh man, that sucks. Computer problems are the worst - time sinks without end. If it's still not fixed by the time I get back, let me know, I have a knack for fixing those things.

oh god. surreal that sucks majorly. i'm sorry babe. i kind of know how you feel. for the past month i've been on the phone with dell for approx. 1,000,001 hours combined. but it seems as if little inspiron is up and running now!

Well, just saw the second episode of Cracking Up, in which my somewhat friend Dave Walton is a major character.

There's something wierd with the way it was shot. It might have been recorded on hi-def video. It seems to have tracking lines when there's a lot of motion. Plus, I don't know if it's our television, but the reds are bleeding a lot into...

My profile use to say Pet Groomer, Woodworker, and Artist. But I haven't done any professional pet grooming in forever and the same goes with the woodworking. The artist part is always in progress. More like crafting than art sometimes. biggrin

I don't know what's wrong with my pics section, but it's not working.

Tonight the Fox show "Cracking Up" premires after American Idol. The show stars Jason Schwartzman, from "Rushmore," Molly SHannon, the guy who played Shooter MacGavin, and a one Mr. David Walton.
I can't believe Dave Walton is going to be on a big show like this.
Dave Walton went to my college,...

Aside from the fact that I was having a rather boring night the other day, I think I came upon your profile when I was posting stuff on the boards and most likely you had said something interesting so I went to investigate...that's usually how I look at random people...but the pics were an added bonus. wink wink And I am not REALLY an SG Hopeful...I was looking for a friend's pics. Something about posting nude pics on the web just doesn't do much for me...Too chicken I guess...wink I had totally forgot that show was going to be on...I will have to watch it next week...

Welcome fairly new member. How do you like SG so far?

Had a good time hanging with various members of SGNY last night. Some of the highlights:

-About 6 SGers were playing darts on one of two side-by-side boards. I'm fairly new to the group, so I introduce myself without a moment's hesitation. Normally, this is a good thing. However, it was a little odd when I turned to this guy and said "Hi, I'm Chris."...

You didn't miss much after you left - it was a very low-key SGNY outing, at least as far as I could tell. Maybe things got more exciting later, I bailed kind of early in the interest of getting sleep.

That's so funny that you know where "You got the touch" is from. I think the last time I saw Transformers: The Movie was at a birthday party in the fourth grade, so it's been a while. Maybe I should rent it again? I was admiring the animation cells as well though, they fit the decor of the bar nicely.

Good seeing you though. I'll see you again in a few weeks....

Your light pics are great fun...wink

It's amazing the distances I will go to hook up with a girl. But, becuase I fight long-term intimacy like Listerine battles plaque, I can only do the serious "quality-time together" stuff in a foreign locale.

So, this winter break I saw a girl with whom I went to high school. Back then, she was two grades below me, but we had a great conversation....

I've been to that place too. I was really close with this girl it felt like a sure thing but nothing happened it was strange because she was so persistent to have me visit.

Norway, huh? For some reason I feel like I'd be intimidated by 6 foot tall beautiful blonde girls. Not that I wouldn't be attracted to them...

We're thinking 5 days of skiing, 5 days of sight seeing and a few days to just chill and enjoy life. Sounds about right to me. My friends are kind of crazy aggressive skiers so I don't know if I could handle any more than that anyway.

As for SGNY events - actually, I feel like the couple of times I've shown up not knowing a single person is when I've met the most people. I'm sure you'll be fine. But you should come hang out on Saturday afternoon if you can, it looks like we'll be doing our thing once more.

The photo shoot turned hardcore right after I stopped paying attention, apparently. I saw Matt and Helen come in and was just talking to them, not even looking at what was being projected on the wall, when Helen said "look, it's a porno." I looked up and some guy was holding a girl upside down and they were 69ing... I figured that was kind of sketchy, and it went downhill from there.

I accidently locked my roomates door an needed a paperclip to open it. I went to two delis and two laundromats down the street. No one spoke English well enough to understand what a paperclip was. Finally, I demonstrated the concept to an old Chinese man. He got it. I opened the door. I think I freaked out a woman and her kid when I...

We missed you at the magazine thing, hope all is well. It gets me insane when I see people speaking to young children in other languages, I have no problem with embracing your heritage, I just think people should work harder to assimilate. There is a difference between cultural pride and being practical. Some will give the argument that half the world speaks language X, or that in other countries people are bilingual I have news for you this isnt half of the world, or another country its America, speak whatever you want on your own time but when in public make an effort to speak the language of the land.
tastysoup:
that's impressive! i bet i couldn't express the idea of "paperclip" to someone without speaking. that's also impressive that you can open doors with a paperclip. you talented lad you.

I'll be guest bartending on Wednesday night at Walter's, which is on 8th Ave. between 29th and 30th. It supposed to be a really laid back place. I can't comp you drinks, but it should be a good crowd. A lot of students, I think.

And yes, this is a short entry, but after that story I wrote on the 19th, I deserve a break.

I hope the bartending bit went well - sorry I couldn't make it, I was really feeling wiped out and I have plans every night for the next five days, so I figured I'd take it easy tonight.

Are you thinking about coming to Penny's thing on Saturday? Should be fun.
minimalism:
I'm not a fan of The Cure. I was just making a fun picture for my friend Elysse. That's her favorite song.

It's odd to me to think of Joy Division as melancholy. I guess I can't deny that some of their songs are moody and dark, but they had a lot of up beat tracks as well.

Everything in this story is true:

Last night, I called my roomate, Austen. He was waiting for a table at the Mexican place, "Tortilla Flats" on the corner of Washington and Jane. I was nearby and he invited me to join him and his mother for dinner.
Tortilla Flats, while being the third most common name for a mexican place behind "La Taqueria," and "The...

OK, I've gotta see the speed bartender routine, that sounds really impressive.

Friday night was pretty good, fairly small and it was a mixed SG/non-SG crowd, which I think helped to keep things on the tamer side. I didn't stay very late on Saturday, I had told some other friends I would hang out with them instead, which turned out to be a big mistake since their party sucked, and I heard the SGNY party was fun.

And I dig the "underground intellectuals" idea, I'm all for it. smile

me and my dad watched the shit out of airwolf when i was a kid, yet things like ernest borgnine day at tortilla flats are the reason that he practically refuses to come to manhattan.
