If it's overheating, and your uncle says it's the water, there's a good chance you're leaking coolant. Some of the newer cars (post 1997) use a reddish antifreeze instead of the green. I'd tell you to look at the snow under it, but I just realized you live down south.
If it is an antifreeze leak, it could be a couple of things. I don't know what kind of car you have, so this is purely a guess.
1.) You could have a leaky hose. No problem.
2.) The hose could be loose where it connects to the overflow tank. No problem.
3.) The overflow tank could be leaking through a crack. Not a big problem.
4.) Your water pump is leaking, which means it needs to be replaced before you overheat your engine to death. This is a big problem, as water pump replacement can be upwards of $400.
Please please please take it in before you ruin your engine. If it's oil or coolant, you definitely want to get it in sooner than later.
