Since you asked, I'm currently in the process of applying to Syracuse and American. Last Fall I was sold on applying to American, even visited the campus and loved the Literature Department, but I decided I didn't have enough money and left it for a year. Now I still don't have enough money, so I'm saying fuck it and just applying.
I have decided to take the disaster aid class through the Red Cross next week, and I could be going to Mississippi or Louisiana the following week to help with the relief/rescue efforts. I'm not sure if you read my extra comment on that entry but the big problem is not finding people to hang out with, it's finding people with similiar interests. That and I have a social anxiety disorder. There are things to do around Blacksburg probably more than a lot of other towns. All those social things are odd though when you go by yourself.
I know someone who went do with a semi-truck to the South for relief efforts. I'm pretty sure he didn't have to do anything extra because he was just helping take supplies down there. The group was called 'God's Pit Crew'. I'm not sure if they're taking another trip down or not. It would be a wonderful thing to do if you could handle it financially. I would be worried about getting down there with no money and then being stranded myself. I'm sure you'll journal if you end up going. Good luck. -dave

Why do people always have to have the last word?? It is so frustrating! They miss the point entirely because they have to show the other person up! Argg!! I catch myself doing it too. Although I try not to, it sometimes gets the better of me.

I think that resources should have been used to evacuate the citizens of New Orleans who didn't have transporatation out of the city, instead of routing them into a death trap.

For a week before it hit we watched, why weren't supplies being stocked where they could be utilized and why the guard wasn't called up prior to the hit.......
i just hope that now that things are getting to the point they should of been from the beginning that the senseless deaths stop.

Thanks for the recomendation, and the kinds words. And yeah, I have some defenite emotional stuff going on that I have been dealing with at the moment, regarding relationships. I have had a good one or two, and lots of bad ones, one being specifically bad, and allowing someone to be close to you when you haven't let go of and healed that harm is impossible.
