sounds like you just need some practice - and, of course, continue with what feels comfortable for you... back when I was into photography ( before I became the shaky individual I am now ), I was lucky enough to do some photography with/for friends and did my best to keep them comfortable - and, I admit, a little off guard... get some great unexpected photos that way :)
