if you've ever wondered what it's like to be 37, let me say it's really no different that 27 (for me, anyway). The funniest thing is all the shocked faces around when they ask my age. Last year, I played with subtracting a decade and no one was the wiser.

Oh, i didn't hear you. Oh that's a shame. Where were you working? Next time throw something at me, i respond to that.
daisy:
Poker? Poker Shmoker. It looks complicated, and i'm not one for complication. How're you anyway? You've not updated in like years. Hope you're ok.
I have 3 current crushes, all associated with work. The first one is a tall blonde with a Bettie Page haircut, great figure but a bit of a slapper. She's flirted with me a bit when she comes into my bar (she works at another bar in the village), saying I am one of the best bouncers in Cork, always giving me extended looks, etc....

happy birthday.
daisy:
Happy Birthday mister.
I played a football game yesterday in Derby, England. Ireland vs the GB Bulldogs. The coach made me one of the captains for the game, quite an honour! we lost bigtime, but had some moments to be proud of.

Good lad! I hope the whole holiday season is great for Ya'!
I started programming again, am almost finished with work for one client, and starting another. sql & php stuff, fun and pays enough to keep me in booze. I am drinking again, a small bit, now that the football season is over. Not quite over, just the North vs South all-star game and 2 more games for the Irish national team.

just finished a basic website for the football team - http://www.corkadmirals.com (some
pictures of me in the photo gallery there).
I also made the Irish National Team! Really just the league all-stars until we get the official recognition back from the government, but we will have that for next year.

The Admirals lost yesterday, we are now 2-1 for the season. I am bruised, and my right knee & heel are hurting. I will get a physio session tomorrow, since I am planning to try out for the league all-star team (which will be the irish national team in a couple years) at the session on Sunday. Seeing the other competition in the league, I...

since I've been gone from here, I have:
started playing american football with the cork admirals (left tackle, offensive line), which involves a lot of cardio, strength training and bruising.
began work as a bouncer in pubs & clubs around Cork.
grew my hair into a decent pompadour and grew a zapata type mustache
moved house, now living with a gay scottish guy in his...

Since work is slow, I updated my CV and sent it around to some friends. Might have to move away from Ireland for a while to build up the savings then come back and slack some more, or go elsewhere...maybe the south of France or Northern Italy?
Anyhow, the updated CV is at http://fixer.vigilante.net/rysmithjr_CV2003.doc
if you come across anyting interesting for me...
I'm not renewing...

I got the flat I was hoping for. A shared house in Sunday's Well, right at the top of the Shakey Bridge (a Cork landmark). sharing with 3 women in their later 20s-early 30s in a nice sized house with a HUGE but wildly overgrown garden up the hill in the back.
Just after I got the call, I was having second thoughts about what...

every time I see Meg Ryan in a film, I am reminded of my eldest sister, Cindy. Their personalities are so much alike. No point to this message.

I've only been over a couple times, either for work or to Scotland for the 6 Nations. With work being as slow as it is now, it's enough to survive here, barely, but I don't travel at the moment.
today is my 2 year anniverary in Ireland!
heading off to Dublin in the morning, for the weekend festival called Witnness . My buddy Rich Hawtin is playing tomorrow night, so I am supposed to meet up with him somewhere in Dublin tomorrow then head to Punchestown Racecourse where the festival is held.
