So tomorrow I'll be back in my hometown. Mixed feelings for sure.
Just about all of my closest and dearest friends are there. The ones who really know what the deal is and judge me for ME. There is truth to everything that people say, though, even the detractor(s), no doubt about it. Whether it's being an SG, doing some amateur pinup modeling, having a website about a passion of yours that has brought you immense joy (but has also gotten you into big trouble), being an LJ drama queen, or whatever, if you put yourself out there, you are subject to the scrutiny. I'm just now seeing it for what it is. And no more pedestals, I see people as they really are, what an eye opener.
We are all afraid to acknowledge the darkest parts in ourselves, we are all afraid that the nasty things that the shit disturbers of this world say about us are true. Human nature. Should we put ourselves on hold for fear of reproach? Should we hold back because people are going to call us "self-absorbed" and "phony"? Nope.
Misery loves company, unfortunately, that is one cliche that always rings true. If you are uncomfortable within yourself, you are open for these psychic vampires to wage a free for all on you. Ugh. So you've got to be ok with everything, the pos and the neg in life. With a few icky and dramatic exceptions that I am fully responsible for and readily admit to, I'm ok with what I've done. Are you? Are you, really?
Never underestimate anyone. That belief has served me well
