Holidays. Schmolidays.
Yeah, I'm one of those bah humbug people. I just see many faults with the holidays.
First and foremost, why do you need traditional consumerism to dictate when you should be nice to your family, et al? If you despise them for the rest of year, what, just because Hallmark says you need to buy them some tacky, contrived card, it means that...

Parlez-vous le franais ?
Seriously, I will
you forever if you can translate this for me!!
Even if I never find out what he is saying, this is still the funniest thing I've seen in a LONG time.

can you say, "JAILTIME?!"

Yep, what Lego said. I'll add that the driver talks about "the family wagon" before he gets in the car.
That's funny as hell, and I'd love to see the rest of the video. Les Flics have a legendary lack of a sense of humor about stuff like this.

I'm in a better mood today, for some reason.
What mood are you in today? What are your plans for the weekend?

I'm feeling OK. Got a lot of work done this week.
The wekend will be a working one. I'm delivering an undercover car to DC and doing client sublet work in an outfitting shop there.
Law enforcement work is fun stuff.

This was posted in the SGUK group, but I think it's so apt that I need to post it here.

I'm rarely on the boards anymore, it seems, much less starting new threads.
I know better than to go to the Current Events board! So what are your favorite and least favorite boards on the site?

I don't really go to the boards that much... but I really like the groups.... The baords really strike me as being a popularity contest for 18 to to 25 year olds..... No offense to anyone reading this, but it seems like everyone is trying to be cooler than the next person...... Hence my reason for really digging on the groups.
hey lady, It was cool to talk to you today....

HOLY SHIT that's great! My time on SG, however much or little I had, used to be divided equally among three places. One was journals of friends and whatnot. Another was some regional group that I've been all unfairly kicked out of. And the other was the hookup board. No, not being a creep and trolling for new people, but reading up on events, posting events and following those threads, and generally not being a newbie basher.

I think the song Christine by Siouxsie and the Banshees is one of my favorite songs by them.

The Last Beat of My Heart.
I think I'm going to donate myself to Body Worlds.
The exhibit is one of the more thought provoking things I've had the experience to behold. Highly recommended. If you're not in the area, you can still procure a DVD tour of it.

I am an enormous fan of Bodyworlds, and everything about it. It's one of the true "teaching" experieneces offered nowadays, very visceral, and one of the only things that really strikes a chord within people. As far as death goes, it forces people to think, and talk, about what it really is to be human/alive......I have to stop babbling now....
At what point do you surmise that apathy can turn into abject defeat? I walk the line of being apathetic about many things, and then do not take steps to overcome it.
On occasion I feel hopeless to do anything about it. I'm not sure if it's irrationality or delusions or something of that nature. Unrealistic expectations? Not so much anymore.

Craziest hotel story. Hmm. You can pick one of the following and I'll tell you bout it.
A guy asking me to help him find a prostitute.
Stories of people shitting/puking/pissing everywhere
Bums who shit in our staircases
Or all of the people who lose double my yearly salary in one night of gambling.

Why didn't anyone invent the Salad Shooter sooner?

I agree with you. It's like valentine's day. One stupid day that people then turn into some kind of get out of jail free card so they can be fucktards all year, but then if they make one token (and often consumer-oriented gesture) on the right day, they go from retard to romeo. Thanksgiving isn't as bad as Christmas, but they're both several kinds of horrible. If we're thankful for what we've got all year long, then you don't need to worry about it then, do you? Not me. I'll take the day off work, though. And I'll stuff my face. But it's worth noting that while I usually keep my portions under control, there are occasional days throughout the year when I get together with friends and the food is excessive. Just happens from time to time, Hallmark doesn't dictate when.
I like getting free stuff, but there was a line I picked up from someone's birthday last year that struck me... presence, not presents.
