I took Siv and thehedgehog around Toronto again today. No, they haven't moved in: they leave tomorrow.
Meh. It's time I got back to my stupid life anyway. (That's not as mopey as it sounds: Hedge probably knows what I mean.)
If I had more computers here they'd each have a ton of pictures posted in their journals, so I apologize to all of you...

You know, when you go on your book tours, you're either going to have to cover it up during the signing portion or show it off to every person in line. I think your choice will be largely determined by what kind of books you write.

it was so great meeting you this weekend...i totally wish i could have been around for the whole tatoo thing. sorry we didn't get to hang out more...if you're ever in the mitten you have a place to stay with either mk or i...
Fuck you, American Eagle. They're here safe and sound--I need you no more!
Siv and Monsieur Hedgehog are here--seriously, like right behind me--and we're all getting along splendidly. There was a brief tense moment at the airport when hedge and I had to negotiate a handshake. Nobody was hurt too badly. And no penises were exposed.
Both of them look nothing like they do online....

Instead of poetry, Siv:
Siv: grinning women on haycarts ARE hot.
Siv: i have a smile that could curdle bread.
Siv: even though i had 5 years of braces. i blame the gillian anderson factor:
Siv: big lips, toothy grin. have you ever seen her smile? it's like seeing the sun rise over Stonehenge.

My brother [10 years younger], sister [4 years younger] and I have an on going conversation about which of us is currently the good child, for there can only be one good child and it is always changing.
I was the good child through my college years and my sister occupied the less enviable position of child whose life direction we are very concerned about. Her view of the situation was that she was getting in trouble for doing things I got away with all the time [my view was that she was silly to get caught]. And so it was until I managed to get caught with a pound of a certain green leafy substance. Immediately, my sister and I had changed positions [at this point, my brother was too young to really figure into the equation, although he may have already occupied the position of only family hope - we are not sure].
Over time, the seats have changed based on who is doing well at work, in life, who has been around he family etc. Right now, I think my sister is the good child and my brother's recent conversion to vegatarianism has marked him as the C.W.L.D.W.A.V.C.A in the eyes of my very conservative parents.
This is really more of a family joke among the kids. I guess the point I'm not making is that we've never doubted Mom or Dad. Despite the ever shifting pecking order, they are proud of all of us in some way.
It could be that your mother was honest when she told you that she did not think your absence at mother's day dinner would be a big deal. When the moment actually came, it may have just blindsided her. I'm not sure of your family dynamics, but if I were in your situation [and I have been often - I'm notoriously bad with family birthdays], I'd just apologize, make it up to her in some small way and leave it at that. Maybe she'd just like to have a meal with her boy.
I am sorry about all of the family drama - that stuff is never fun.

I'm a pretty good boyfriend, but I'm a lousy son.
I spent the day building sets with my girlfriend. It went well. We had a good time.
Then I came home and found messages from my brother and father on my answering machine. It turns out that I really let my mom down by opting out of dinner tonight.
When I told her I wouldn't...

_sarah_:
First of all, I know it's hard and you want to lose it and so on, but you didn't put a knife in the woman's chest. The pain will fade, and you are still perfect in her eyes. Just trust me on this one. I've done MUCH MUCH WORSE in the past, and my mom still brags to her friends.
Second, and this probably won't do much good, but I have to say it: Why did she say she was okay with you missing dinner if she wasn't? I know I know... mothers never want to "burden" us, but they're also the queens of passive-aggressive statements. I've learned to take my mom's, "It's okay, honey," and translate that to, "Oh man... I really wanted to see you this weekend... I never get to see your beautiful face... I hope you can come next weekend instead," and tell her, "I really am sorry I got called in to work, but I'll come up next weekend."
Please don't worry too much. She's your mother. She couldn't stop loving you if she tried.

antiprincess:
I really think you would have to do something a lot worse than miss dinner to lose perfect standing in the eyes of your mom. We've all messed up before, and (most of) our moms still love us, with the undying, unconditional love only a mother can. Granted, I don't know your mom at all, but maybe it really was okay when she told you it was okay not to come, and then she just had a lonely moment, and didn't feel so good anymore. And tomorrow, she'll be fine, and will feel bad for making you feel bad. Or that could just be something that happens to me. Regardless, I'm willing to bet this will blow over eventually, and you will be the perfect little boy you always were, because that's the place we always seem to hold in the eyes of our parents.
I know, you still feel bad. Try to feel better. I really think that you are a good guy, and that you feel so bad about this just proves my point.
*hugs*

Wednesday again. Another poem from a Canadian poet. Me. Ha. Ahem.
Geography Lesson #248
I could really teach him something
that Canada goose on the corner
outside the mall. He's surprising
the pedestrian traffic
with annoyed honking. He's not lost--
just tired, bored, back for the spring
and pissed as the rest of us
about this inconstant weather.
I...

that hedgehog.com site is hillarious. for a bit they had this flash promo that just screamed 1999. it was all about monetizing the scalable verticle leverage to create a paradigm shift in e-strategizing markets.

Well hot dog, what a happy birthday that was.
Thanks for all the smoochy thoughts, folks.
I can't say the year has flown by. It feels like a couple of years have passed since my last b-day.
One thing that's changed noticeably is my proclivity for waxing philosophical in here. It becomes hard to pontificate when you've got a sense that the people reading you...

It's Wednesday, so here's a poem.

I saw it ws your b-day! Just wanted to say happy b-day!
Last night I dreamt there was a locust in my apartment, and I had to get it out before it ate everything, so my brother and I, we did everything we could--which now doesn't seem like much aside from being afraid of it--to get it out, but in the end it was an enormous beetle under my couch that really took charge and grabbed the...

I would actually settle for Jude Law pretending to be a robot a la A.I., even if we both knew that he wasn't. A fun game.

Those were some damn good pics of you Mr. Fehr.
well, the thing is, they're not actually printed, they're spraypaint stencil...i could easily do one on a red shirt for you. what size compadre?
also, paypal would be cool, but i'm not sure i know how to receive payment that way. i have an account, i got it when i registered for e-bay. can you offer instructions?
i'm prolly gonna get to work on them next week, as the week after i leave for a cool three week art job.
