some fishing line, a needle, a lighter, and a decent tolerance for pain is all that is generally required to perform your own stitches. being ambidextrous also helps and the placement of the wound can be even more helpful.
very little in the world of medicine cannot be fixed by the afflicted individual. and don't let the love of the sight of blood lead you to infection or worse. infection is bad. bleeding to death is worse... though it gives you cool stories to tell in the next paradigm usually.
