The thing about the book that I don't like is it just feels like shes pandering. She's always got this ability to escape that makes everything she is doing subject. I mean, I grew up dirt poor. Borderline starving. The Reagan years were especially hard on my family cause our main source of income was my father's disability, and when Reagan cut us off, we were literally living off the land. Even after that, it wasn't until I moved to Texas that I knew not eating for a day or two wasn't something everyone else did. I guess I just resent that this rich woman is using poverty as a tool to make herself more money, to make herself more popular. Sure she opened some eyes and whatnot, but I just feel that if she really wanted to help "the cause", as it were, she could have gone about it in a much better way.
