"Adventure" is pretty much what I'd been lead to expect-- the songs are good, but the procuction is much too glossy. The drums are mixed way down low and recorded so that they sound like a cross between a drum machine and a kid's toy. The vocals are mixed too high. The guitars are overall ok, but too orderly and restrained. But if you can look past the overproduction, yeah the songs are there.

Curious George is a naughty lil' monkey.
This is my little R.I.P. for Bronson. I hope not just out of laziness (I haven't done anything yet today except clean my bathroom, vaccuum, and copy a CD; I expect you don't need explicit details about all that) but just to marvel at the quote I read on Yahoo News, that Charles got into acting "to make money." I mean what are the odds...

I get so grumpy when I hear people applauding madonna and britney, saying they've taken a step forward for gay rights. Of course they haven't. It's a step BACKward. Not only was it probably insincere, but pretty "lesbians" (the kind that really like men and just kiss women and who are stereotypically sexy) have ALWAYS been acceptable to the media. This is nothing new at all, it's just the same old game!!
Stupid madonna and britney. I'm glad someone else agrees, I felt like maybe I was just being a killjoy.

i agree with frida -- i don't like the gringos neither!!!
Okay, I was wrong. Nobody likes U-boats. I guess sinking all them ships made them some enemies or something...
whiskeyfightpit:
I liked the fuckin' U-Boats. But they need to be modernized to meet my drinking and Grand Theft Auto Vice City habits. They can leave the guns in the tourettes, too. I imagine I would like to mimick what I see in video games after about 28-33 Amstel Lights.
Plus we'll need the soundtrack from Scarface. It just makes sense.

I figured I'd pay tribute to the passing of Wesley Willis and the mortal ailment of Warren Zevon with, what else, a review of U-Boat history
from Black May by Michael Gannon, a book about U-boat defeats in May of 1943, a passage about how subs were supplied at long range:

See there, Cheech? You always got something wholesome for us SGers to chomp on. You're like that one aunt in everyones family who is really into macrobiotics and spreads the gospel. I for one like it.

So what's your take on the new (and forthcoming) wave of Dr. Seuss movies being produced? I thought the Grinch was a travesty, and in spite of my love of Mike Meyers, the Cat in the Hat looks like it's going to make me upset.

Well, I don't know what's all that tough about banking, but the holidays go back hundreds of years. And the reason everyone gets the day off is because 100s of years ago businesses couldn't function when the banks were closed. Sooo no one went to work
I'm not complaining now either because if you work for the government or a large organisation you get paid for the day off!

I hate it when something you really wanted to see isn't touring near by. Living on the west coast of Wales has made me realise how lucky I was where I used to live.

The only problem with this whole scenario is that I don't want amphetamines or Lou Reed playing with my testicles when he's bored. Other than that it all sounds pretty groovy.
I'm afraid of New York....don't really want to ever go there. I do want to meet John Zorn though. It's not like I'll have anything interesting to say to him.
Donald Rumsfeld could possibly benefit from a 1966 Lou Reed ballwash. Who knows, maybe Donald would've stuck around The Factory scene and made little films with Andy Warhol instead of laying waste to the world.
"Donald you're so VICIOUS..."

I have had a mostly excellent day, with some IMing to vaj and a walk out on the southside of Huntley Meadows...but there's something really bothering me that I have to mention.

I think what really gets to me about this that of all the bands in the world you would expect to hear things like this about, Phish is probably the least likely, you know? I mean, I've never heard any right wing christian nuts or PC types talk about how Phish was destroying the morals of the nation's youth or something. People just like to hear good reputations get spoiled, I guess...

this is a continuation of yesterdays journal, so read that unless you like stuff that makes no sense out of contextwhich describes about 75% of my jokes but anywaysorry I wasn't online last night. I was kinda sick-feeling yesterday, took the day off.

Even with that devil-bat flanking you in the photograph, you still speak the truth.
I'm reading your Carlos The Jackal story while listening to THE ORIGINAL STACK O'LEE BLUES. That's gotta be some form of omen.

Cool story. I always like a happy ending.
Be sure to check out Cherry's journal.

I do have TRANS on vinyl though.
For my vocal duties on our latest noise rock album, I read passages from the Christian Science bible thing in a Captain Beefheart fashion. The only thing on my mind the whole time was GIMME THAT OLD TIME RELIGION. My cohorts are transferring it from MiniDisk over to CD. I'll get you a copy. Only one guy in the group knows how to do anything. What I lack in talent I make up for in energy. Cheech might get a a chuckle or two.
NOW GET ME A BEER, SLAVE!!!!!!
