I went over to the Botanic Gardens and a couple of museums.
The Botanic Gardens, a giant greenhouse and courtyard and neighboring garden, are all right next to the US Capitol. On the other side, a museum is under construction for the American Indian museum.
There are so many great plants and trees in the BG, not to mention cacti, that I certainly couldn't remember...

So little to report... and so little time to do it in!

- read more of A Handful of Dust, and liking it. I have $100 that says Beaver is gonna have an affair with Brenda... come on, I mean her husband hates him, leaves them together for extended periods, and she likes having him around...

- worked

- found out I can't merely...

Didn't write on here last night due to being really tired. Watched some old Tom Green, watched some The Holy Mountain, then decided around 10:30 that my eyes wanted to close.
Woke up around 3:30... got to sleep about 2 hours later... had some very weird dreams, which seems to me my insomnia pattern of late, wake up followed by extended weird dreams.

...but...

Yeah, but can Laura Bush make a crack batch of Snickerdoodles with oodles of THC milling about in the dough. That bitch couldn't screw in a lightbulb if the lightbulb's package didn't have a giant crucifix and/or nazi sign on it. Or what about Dan Quale's wife? What kinda Pat Robertson/ Stepford Wives assembly line did that cracker step off of?

A candy-colored clown they call the sandman, tiptoes to my room every night.

gotta love Dean Stockwell faggin' it up and beltin' out the Roy Orbison.

My computer is scaring me. When I got home today, it was making a much different noise than it usually does.

It had a low whir before; now there's a kinda table-saw grind to it... no, it's not as loud as a table-saw, but it sounds like a table-saw off in the distance. I did ScanDisk and found no real errors. Does anybody have any...

My computer used to make such a noise. I put it down to the fact that it was built by my failed computer techie friend. Then one day I lost my temper playing Tomb Raider and hit the PC as hard as I could. it nearly fell off the table, and had a massive dent in the side. But it was cured!

Hey homie,

I sent your pack last week. I assume you haven't recieved it yet. I don't know what's up with the postal service these days. I sent something to another friend that same day to LA, and she hasn't received it either. Priority Shmiority......

Hershey Park is a decent amusement park. The rides are good; we got there late to go on all of them, and some were closed at the time, but in the Halloween-fest format the park charges no admission and a wristband for unlimited rides was $19.

One disappointment-- I assumed that, it being right by the factory and that they might want you to help...

Well, they let you hang upside-down in the chocolate vat right? Right?

What the hell?!

Remind me never to go there for the first time.

It's kinda the same with the Jelly Belly factory. Everything is the same price as anywhere else - the only advantages are that ALL their products are in one place, and they're all ultra-fresh.

Keanu Reeves cannot act his way out of a paper bag, but I REALLY cannot tolerate Vin Diesel. He just sounds so fucking stupid all the time.

I kindo of liked my old profile pic, but I had it for a long time and fancied a change. Plus the more I saw it the more I thought it looked like on of those kitty clocks where the eyes go back and forth.

I was looking at the Roger Ebert book The Great Movies at work, and since I just saw 8 1/2 I figured I'd see what he thought.

I agreed with most of it, but it's funny, the things he notes that detractor-critics said about it when it came out.

Some critics said it was overindulgent, that Fellini had gall to make a movie about a...

I kept looking at the box to 8 1/2 when I was at this movie store in California, but never bought it. I elected to buy such cinematic masterpieces as I'm Gonna Get You Sucka and Motorama.

It seems to be a crazy year for celebrity deaths... it looks like even The Pope is finally giving out... Elliott Smith killed himself with "a single knife-wound"?? That is so strange. It reminds me a lot of Van Gogh's suicide. Most people know Van Gogh committed suicide, some people even know it was with a gun, but I'm not sure many people know he...

So, erm... I love Horror and Sci Fi... Usually for the fake aspect though. I guess you could say I'm even addicted. I wish I had time to go through my favourites now... maybe I'll save it for an email when I actually have five minutes to spare (so rare lately, I'm sorry).

P.S Would you really share a Vanilla Malted with me? That's so cute!

Cheech, you're fucking cool, man. You need to start strutting around like James Chance of the Contortions. Don't listen to those haters. They're just jealous cause they can't remember jack shit and your mind is like an interactive archive.

Facts n Quizzes

I have a lot of lil factlets around from work; they've actually been stockpiling through my bum-outs and movie-viewing wink not to mention workin' on Saturday... so here is the lowdown on an event from 1800s America. The source is The Great Fire: Chicago 1871 by Kogan and Cromie, which I'm paraphrasing:

The Great Chicago Fire raged for approximately 29 hours, during which...

The words "Great Chicago Fire" are connected to the synapses in my brain that remember Gilda, so right now I am singing:

When Mrs. O'Leary's cow kicked the lantern-in Chicago town,
They say that started the fire that burned Chicago down.
That's the story that went around, but here's the real lowdown
Put the blame on Mame, boys,
put the blame on Mame.
Mame kissed a buyer from out of town,
that kiss burned Chicago down.
So you can
put the blame on Mame, boys,
put the blame on Mame.

Re Fifteen: No, it was a bad teenage soap opera that aired on Nickelodeon from 1991-1993. I loved it, and I knew it was bad, but I still loved it. It was AWESOME. I loved those crazy kids at Hillside High. Almost all of the actors were Canadian, but they filmed in Orlando, and I often got to sit in and watch tapings of various episodes because of my dad's job (travel writing -- close connections with various Universal and Disney assholes), and did you know that Melissa Joan Hart used to be live next door to my friend Byron? He says that kids made fun of her for having a wonky eye.
