With what little I've seen of both the Nessica and Darmen couple shows...I would have to agree with you. Isn't Navarro supposed to be this interesting musician from a groundbreaking band? It all seems dull.

I don't know what HST would say. Maybe it's time I started reading some of his stuff, too. But then, maybe I shouldn't. Maybe he'll just tell me what I already know, but articulate it more clearly than I've previously read, or differently. All I really know about him is from the Gilliam movie. I dunno. Is he just a big, fat, incessant cynic? Don't know if I need any more of that right now. Like... take Vonnegut. I think I've read everything he ever wrote. Unfortunately, I think I read 90% of it in a month or two of straight-through reading. Left me incredibly depressed. He's a brilliant writer, one of my favorites. But after reading his stuff, I find myself seeing the world through deeply cynical lenses, you know? Is Thompson like that?

I'm very much into the Electrotrash as well. Fischerspooner and Adult are the top notch ways to go. Also check Miss Kitten & the Hacker, Felix the Housecat (though those two are often times a bit house-ier than I'd like), Shapeshifter, Ladytron, and Tiga. Tiga's got a DJ Kicks album on the !K7 label that's pretty sweet. I've been listening to a lot of DJ Kicks lately. The Andrea Parker and Terranova kick ass (esp the Andrea Parker...it's got a lot of 80's old skool new wave-hip hop ontop of almost european tribal beats). I've also been up on the Indietronica side of things with bands like the Notwist, Tarwater, Lali Puna, Jan Jelenik (Farben), Dntel (beatmaster from the Postal Service), Mum, Autechre, Boards of Canada; and more hip hop-ier stuff like Dabrye, Prefuse 73 (and his new project Savath & Savalas which would fall in the indietronica category with it's upright bass and violin) Chicken Lips (another DJ Kicks), and Crazy Penis (good amount of disco-funk). Uhhhh....I just realized I went on quite a rant about electronica....you're probably overwhelmed.....Doht!

Carnivale.....is the shit....I don't think it's on HBO On Demand anymore, but they're gonna release it on DVD. And I HIGHLY recommend buying it. You can't watch it enough. It's super twisted yet very much laid out in a pattern. I fucking love it. It's probably one of the best puzzles I've run across in a very long time. You'll think you've got it all figured out, then they'll turn around and do a scene that totally blows your theory. I'm DETERMINED to figure it out before any of my friends do.

Got Saucer Wisdom today. Book smells FUNNY. Can't pinpoint the smell... something oily... Maybe a bit like a toxic Marks-A-Lot, but only after the acrid fumes have worn off and all that remains is something that just doesn't smell right. See what happens when you get stuff cheap over the internet? Context aside, I'm grooving so far on the preface and introduction and look forward to reading the rest as soon as I'm done re-reading Neuromancer. Seems like I had to do that with the last Gibson Novel I re-read, his collaboration with (I had to look this up) Bruce Sterling, The Difference Engine.
