Butternut squash risotto with bacon and sage
This recipe is amazingly delicious. We had a bumper crop of winter squash in our garden this year and have been enjoying them in a variety of dishes. This is by far my favorite. You could leave out the bacon if you want and also cut the broth with white wine or substitute veggie broth.

Thanks! Patrisha's family wants me to come back for the inauguration. People are renting out rooms in their homes for $300 due to tourist volume!

So beautifully put. It's enormously easy to become cynical and apathetic. But believing that one can have even a small degree of positive influence on the world keeps that tiny ember of hope alive.

Unfortunately, I don't play poker, nor am I much into gambling (I'd rather by a good CD or DVD than blow money on something when the odds are stacked against me). Oh well. At least Vegas is something different.

I came across this really incredible old, live-performance of Wall of Voodoo. It was shot back in 1982, at Atlanta's 688 Club. Stan and Co. are absolutely at the top of their game. So great!

Adored your tale of Cosmo, the "prodigal kitty." Cats have such an amazing life-force. It sounds kind of hokey, but, when I look into a cat's eyes, I really sense something deep and primal coming across. But, hey, I could be "projecting."
Wish I could acquire some of that 2005 Bordeaux, but, until I win the lottery, the ten-dollar Fat Cat pinot noir is going to have to do.
