A toast-

Here's to friends we've yet to meet,
Here's to those here; all here I greet;
Here's to childhood, youth, old age,
Here's to prophet, bard and sage,
Here's to your health-may all be bright
On this so special Christmas night.

10 years gone. Has it been that long? Joe, you left us too soon, but left us so much.
Here's a trip down memory lane, circa 1980-

68 degrees in December? Yikes! surreal

Don't even mention those dissembling gasbags. My blood pressure instantaneously spikes.

No need to apologize -- your rant is spot on. Hardly a day goes by that I'm not hurling expletives -- or a shoe! -- at the t.v., radio, etc. I think listening to NPR has taken several years off of my life. frown

Yea...my wife, the pups and cat weren't exactly happy I wasn't there for it. Fortunately, the lady spared DC. We didn't lose power, no big deal. But it was nice in Miami. smileARRR!!!

The firm retired my trusty Blackberry, which I'll admit was getting a little wonky, and replaced it with this shiny, sleek unfamiliar thing known as an iPhone. Anyone have any good apps to recommend? Too bad its a corporate phone and I can't put the SG app on it...biggrinARRR!!!ARRR!!!

Very happy my Gamecocks put an old-fashioned butt-kicking on Georgia. How overrated were the Bulldogs? Makes the Braves losing to St. Louis a little less painful.

As the saying goes, you should try something new every now and then.
Tomorrow, I'm taking a class in stand-up paddle boarding. Check out some of the action in SUP magazine-

So how was your SUP adventure?

Hey man- I've been out a couple of times so far. It is great to be on the water, so close and able to stand up and get the full view. But, it isn't as easy as it looks. The boards I have used have all been a little too small/light. I need a big, heavy 14' touring style board to float me right and provide the stability these wobbly knees and ankles want.

That being said, the workout is great. A lot of SUPers are pretty ripped. The core muscles get put to the test.

Here are some FB pics from an outing with the local Surfrider Chapter celebrating the 40th anniversary of the Clean Water Act with a paddle rally on the Potomac at the Georgetown waterfront. I'm only in one of them and kneeling at that. The board that day was an inflatable and if I wasn't moving fast not too stable for me.

Where the heck did summer go? Hope all is well.

Day one of the DC to OC drive. Overnighting in Gatlinburg TN. For those of you not familiar with this little Burg, imagine your tackiest beach town and put it at the West gate to the Smokey Mtn National Park and that pretty much sums it up. It used to be tolerable. But now, the Pigeon Forge tacked on (thank you Dolly Parton) the traffic...

As to the chances of this remaining around as a conversation piece...
Back in the days when I worked in the world of consumer electronics and hi-fi gear, there was a metric on the retail sales floor known as WAF or GAF. which are acronyms for Wife/girlfriend acceptance factor.
Let's just say the WAF on my hanging the helmet on the wall anywhere outside my shop or office is probably far into negative #s. biggrinARRR!!!ARRR!!!
