Your son sounds like an excellent lad. The apple didn't fall far from the tree, obviously. (Oops, I just made a rather bad pun, didn't I? :)) From what I understand, Queens is pretty much the last remaining affordable borough in NYC -- and the most ethnically diverse, at this point.

That is my absolute favorite Pretenders song. Love that dirty little riff that Honeyman-Scott executes so well. In a word: HOT. One band I never got to see, alas. Chrissie was such a trailblazer for women in rock. She got down with the boys in an incredibly fearless and unglamorous way. Viva Chrissie! :)

Yup, our household has pretty much been in mourning since Sunday. A great loss. (Wow, that photo is incredibly affecting. Really emotionally powerful.)

Finally got my Maryland M class license after all these years. Time to shop for a two-wheeler. Nothing too big to start. And don't want to break the bank. The Suzuki V-Strom 650s look pretty sweet, especially if I can find a decent used one. V-Strom

Agreed. And the proliferation of endlessly self-promoting Hopefuls (talk about trying too hard!) has been getting on my nerves for a long while. That, coupled with the fact that I absolutely cannot STAND this new redesign, means I will not be renewing my membership when it lapses in January. Looks like you had an amazing summer. Your pictures of your trip to Greece and Turkey are absolutely STUNNING. *drool* Thanks SO much for sharing. (Sorry about the big, continuous LUMP of a comment here.
