had this conversation with my best friend who is a very very very good painter/photograpgher

it is extremly important to have a basis in technique. it's how you get your creative impulse to realize.
mechanics are important. mechanics can be learned and should be learned...must be learned.

then you have the other aspects that make an artist...the creative impulse being key...so is observation...and interest. and imagination
I don't think people are either born or not born artists...creative impulse and observation can be encouraged. usually by exposure to the arts.

some people are by nature more inclined to be artists, but everyone can be a good artist if they put forth the effort and interest. as for the quality of the artist...it's all relative...and often the measure is in the expertise of thier technique....go figure.
it also is worth noting that the artist is only half the equation...for the audience...well....thier reaction is important too.

anyway, it's fun to embrace one's femininity. the key is to mix it up a bit. i'm typically a jeans or slacks type of girl with some kind of cute slightly boyish top and a belt (sometimes spikey), however, i try and dress up and go out once a week. it is somehow very fulfilling. maybe i just like it because it is like playing dress up, and i can pretend i'm sexy and dangerous for a bit.
