Greetings from soggy Humboldt County! Sorry I haven't been on here at all, but the family and friends have kept me plenty occupied. My best friend and his boyfriend will actually be coming to Portland this weekend, so some of you may be able to meet them.

Christmas was aweseome. My dad was way too generous as usual, and we got a brand new set...

You're just leaving because I'm in the state, right?

What, you can't handle how COOL Oregon became, the moment I landed?

Merry Christmas!

Okay, now it's snowing. Like, for real. Three-day weekend, perhaps?

Thanks. I was up at midnight waiting for it. I even set the alarm on my phone.
theinsomniac:
Le sigh.

I head back on the 28th.

It is currently 25 degrees outside. I'm very puzzled as to why it still hasn't snowed a single flake in the last two weeks. I'm no longer disappointed by this, as now there's plenty of shit to do in preparation for leaving and present-giving and party-going and sanity-keeping and all.

I'm just still puzzled.

Global Warming. ARRR!!!
jehu_:
It's due to high pressure. Clear days, colder nights. Need a trough of low pressure, but then usually the air coming in with a low pressure front comes too directly off the ocean and doesn't have enough time over land to cool off enough to drop below freezing by the time it crosses Portland. We need a number of specific factors to occur in a certain order that I won't go into detail here for it to snow.

Two weeks from tonight, I will be back in the loving, foggy arms of my only moderately boring hometown. love

And I will have my baby by my side. love love

And my best friend from high school a mere five miles away. love love love

Ah, Eureka. Please don't rain the whole time I'm there. I must have time to commune with the ocean and the redwoods and get in...

So, you look to the left and you see my age, and judging by my age, you may conclude that I have a 10 year high school reunion coming up next year. Because I've moved around so much, I figured I had no hope of finding out if anything was going on, unless they just sent information to my dad's house.

Well, there I go...

Dale lives in Oakland Now. He's been living with a really cool girl named Maria. That boy keeps finding ways to make it work. He's getting out of the sign making industry. Do'in some odd jobs will playing with glass bending for use with Neon lighting. He was telling me about this scupture he did of a dude's head with a neon mohawk eeek . Tat's Dale for you.

I've gotten in touch with so many people I never thought I'd ever speak to again through myspace. It's a crazy little world.

Happy post-Thanksgiving food coma, everyone! Another great holiday, two more great apple pies that went over extremely well, despite the fact that our tempermental oven cooked the crumb topping a bit more to blackness than I like. Mmmm, cajun apple pie.

Yoga helped me move past my food coma. And now the Raveonettes are helping me to move past my yoga coma.

I thought for...

it was an amazing show. at least down here, she seems to choose venues with less expensive tickets. I'm fairly certain she would sell the wiltern out if she wanted to play there.
hansel:
Dave has this picture of people sprinting into Walmart. True story. They were happy to give their money away for cheap consumer goods.

People should look for something real. Some real moment that proved they were worth the pain and sweat it took to birth them.

And they rush into Walmart.

This isn't even a drunk post. I suggest Walmart The High Cost of Low Price be given out to your loved ones this holiday season. Buy one copy and rip/burn the rest.

Okay. fin. smile

Why do I have the headache when it was all of you that did the drinking? blackeyed

'Twas massive amounts of fun, though. And this time we came away with a few cans and bottles of alcohol, and a lovely green sweater. Does anyone wish to claim the sweater? hansel, I'm glancing in your direction. wink

It has been awhile since I was at a show that I honestly didn't want to end. Last night was such a show. It was a Merge Records triple bill, with Annie Hayden, Radar Bros., and Clientele, and all three were great. Annie, a bit too soft and wispy for my taste, but she was cute nonetheless, the Radar Bros., fucking awesome and my first...

I read an article in the NY Times that ruffled my feathers enough for me to write about it.

First, I'll give you a chance to read the article here. I hope it doesn't make you register. I'm sorry if it does. I figure most of us read the NY Times anyway.

So, now that you have read the article, let me share what...

I like the comment about how the mothers were all cheerleaders and beautyqueens with too much of a sense of entitlement.

Ugh...

Yeah, parents who don't take responsibility for their child's actions are the bane of the universe.

The correct answer is to prevent the ignorant from breeding. I fully support scooping out the sex organs of drug addicts, idiots and republicans (I know, I know, often the same thing).

I'm not even joking. This is why I'm not the worlds supreme overlord. Too bad for us, eh?

Broadcast was amazing. The lead singer has the sweetest voice in the entire world, I believe. I just wanted to sit her down and have her read to me. It felt strange to be out among the hipsters again, and I felt simultaneously invisible and conspicuous, if that's possible.

After the show, we walked down a block to hit the big SGPDX party hosted by...

Huh. That's the first person who'd written me out of the blue. I guess I should have been nicer to her. tongue

It amuses me to receive an email from Missy announcing that the SGB tour is coming to Portland, that Suicidegirls will be in Portland!!! What a rare and unusual treat!

I, however, will be at the Broadcast show. No half naked girls for me.

oooh. Broadcast.
