I just cancelled my account. It will either end on July 17 or August 8, I'm not sure. Billing was a bit confusing. Anyway, I just am not here enough. I may be back, but most of the people I talk to on the site I also see in real life, so the site just isn't doing much for me these days. Take care, everyone....

The friends' journals are actually the only thing keeping me here right now. smile

Alas, we hardly knew ye. Well, *I* hardly knew ye. Take care. Write if you find work.

I should probably update before the weekend hits and I once again have no time. We'll do this chronologically.

When last we left my journal, I was tiptoeing to work so as not to wake the nine sleeping members of Lilys and Human Television. They left town in plenty of time, and presumably had a kickass rest of their tour. Needless to say, we stayed...

Missed the Minders for an Automatic birthday fest; aren't they playing at City Hall on Wednesday?
Kinda bummer though- I want to go see Harry and the Potters Wed, and both shows (Quasi, Potters) are early. Hmm. H&tP plays up north Thursday too, but I like Acme... Hmm.

Ahhhh, the weekend. For a four day workweek, this one seemed loooong. To recap:

We spent the 4th at hypnogogic and ladybelmont's house, hanging with friends and small people (children, not midgets), and being generally in awe of how much better Washington fireworks are than Oregon fireworks. We didn't even need to go to the big Vancouver show, as the neighborhood held some great...

Good to see you all. I liked my vodka gimlet, dug the show (hard to say a fave, since the quality was consistent... I guess HTV, maybe), enjoyed slightly-pricy Doug Fir dinner. It was goood.

That Couv neighborhood is crazy with the fireworks. 10 outta 10.

Hello...

yeah, It's been a while scine I've posted anything. I wish I had planned the timeing from my last post. That would have ment that I have been aware of the passage of time. As it is, the days are streaming by.

I'm really jazzed about the expantion. Part of the Idea was spawned by all of the cool breakest place that their are in Portland. And, the absolute lack of anything like that in old town. I hope we can pull of the theme though. We're shooting for theater. Stage curtians on the walls to cut down on noise, and tie in the stage for bands, comics, poets. Get the beer and wine for the afternoon and evening. It should work. I just have to make it happen.

Thanks for the message. smile

Goddamnit, who was the asshole who scheduled classes today, meaning that students will be around and that they may need staff assistance, necessitating my presence at work? mad

Oh yeah, that was me. blackeyed

Shit. Maybe they'll let us leave early or something. The students can't possibly need anything that desperately.

I trust you got out early?

I was planning on picketing out front if they made us work yesterday.

Like a lot of other Portlanders, I'm a big 'ol weakling when it comes to hot weather. I consider anything over 80 to be hot, and I wilt like a flower when temperatures exceed 80 for more than a couple of days. It is supposed to reach 97 today. surreal

Luckily(?), we will be in the car (with the A/C blasting), driving Elliot back to Seattle....

Imagine being an Oregonian living in a place that's had 100 percent humidity for the past week.

God, please make it stop....

The Calexico show was phenomenal, as usual. Eric Bachman opened, and while his musical stylings were a bit on the sleep-inducing end of things, his music was beautiful and delicate and emotional, but not at all in a pussy way. Joey and co. have brought the legendary Salvador Duran on tour with them, and he is absolutely amazing. My Spanish comprehension has gone the way...

I've noticed the trend of SG folk moving to your fine city. Aren't you tired of it yet? Won't it be vaguely offensive if I come in, take one of your jobs, add to your waste, and leave my car idling on US26 during my three hour commute between Beaverton and downtown?

However... it sounds like you're having fun. I want to have fun. Yep, yep. Screw you all, I'm coming over! tongue ARRR!!!

Harold has taken to lying on the floor against the couch, directly underneath where I sit, so that every time I get up, I forget he's there, step on him and promptly apologize. He doesn't ever seem fazed by it. EnergyChannel says I should stop apologizing, that if Harold is dumb enough to lay there, he should be prepared for my feet. Cats are weird....

Yeah, sometimes animals seem clever as hell, and others they're dumb as a bag of hammers.

I always apologize to the cats too, I'm forever booting them in some body part or other. It's the same phenomenon that leads me to having the world's bruisiest legs. I have no concept of the location of any of my appendages, especially the far ones like legs.
Wow, that's definitely a special thing to find out about a coworker. It's like finding out a coworker got over a drug problem at some point. Everything's okay in the end, but ...whoa.

Okay, so the new site design will let me "manage my stuff" in Firefox, but not in IE. This would not be a problem if Firefox would let me use my mouse directional button on my laptop, since that is the only computer I use. Hrmph.

Maybe this is a sign that I should make the move over to Firefox anyway.

P.S. I just tried...

I've also heard what recoveringmale said around the site a bit. Funny, but the look doesn't remind me of MySpace, nor does the functionality (unless you count the fact that it's clunkier now). I really DON'T mind the colors or look. My problems are purely ease of use. The amount of clicking you have to do has gone up. The Bookmarks page has been slashed to a fraction of its former self. There's more emphasis on comment-stalking and checking-whether-folks-are-on functions, which makes my sense of privacy bristle (hence, I "am private" now, fwiw); it's mostly just that I might log on, and not be in a position or mood where writing to folks is possible or comfortable at that time.
hansel:
Yeah. I don't really like it. But, hey, I figured out how to get to the blogs I want to see.

Oh, and you're on my favorites list. Liek for realz!!1!

It's not that I don't love you, SG journal, it's just that I have nothing to say. No wisdom to impart, no glowing, life-changing experiences to share. Life is going along on its merry way, but it's not journal-worthy. It's just life.

Summer will bring a number of changes. My bestest friend from high school and his boyfriend will finally be moving up in August....

Three shows in a week's time. All three at the Doug Fir. All three in the company of my baby and hansel. Last Thursday was TV on the Radio, who were as much fun as ever, although the tall gentleman in front of me must have taken something realllllly good, because he was flailing all over the place. He sucked up all the rhythm...

Because hansel is an extremely awesome individual, we will be seeing TV on the Radio tonight. I shudder to think how packed the Doug Fir will be.

You know, I wonder if I use the word 'awesome' in every single journal entry I write. confused Somebody get this girl a thesaurus!

In our month of rather extreme poverty (fuck you, IRS), it's nice to have musician friends who will put us on lists for shows.

Last night we had the pleasure of seeing the Stan McMahon band and the Village Green at Lola's Room, and much fun was had. I wish that other people, namely recording label kind of people, could see just how truly awesome...

Tell them to play again soon. Or something.
