Bailey over donuts? My faith in everything has been shaken... Have the poles reversed? Do Republicans care about the poor? Do feces smell like flowers?

I'm dizzy... need to lie down now

Last night I was riding the T, looking out the window at the blackness beyond when I began to listen in on the conversation taking place in front of me. A young boy, a college freshman perhaps, was talking to his friend seated next to him. He spoke of his life and how in awe he was of the fact that he lived in Boston....

for the longest time i have wanted to start a collection of angels.

i love angels for some strange reason.

when i think of them, i think of the sound snow makes when it is falling (this throws my head into some lonely little tangent, but i digress)

why is it then, that almost everything i can find to do with angels centers around angel...

If you even bothered to respond to me first maybe I would have kept my plans, but my intuition was correct. Like the last time You bailed then didn't even respond.
fortissimo:
I have no idea where you might look for collectibles of the non-cherub variety, unfortunately.

But I can recommend some angel-related artistic works that eschew the stereotypical views of angels....

Wim Wenders' films Wings Of Desire and Faraway, So Close provide a meditative look at the state of modern Germany, and human existence in general, through the eyes of angels who watch over the city of Berlin. (Stay far, far away from the American remake of Wings Of Desire, the Nicolas Cage/Meg Ryan vehicle City Of Angels)

Wenders's vision of the angels in the films was very much inspired by the poetry of Rainer Maria Rilke, particularly the Duino Elegies. I recommend the Stephen Mitchell or Edward Snow translations of the Elegies.

Angels of this Rilkean variety are what springs to mind when i consider your thought of "the sound snow makes when it is falling". Brooding, removed, silent observers of human existence. Their touch on reality is about as soft and pure and minimally consequential as snow.

And the young-adult novel A Wind In The Door, the sequel to A Wrinkle In Time (that book by Madeline L'Engle that almost everyone read while in junior high), features an angel of the more authentically-biblical cloud-of-wings-and-eyes variety as one of the principal characters.

And I heartily endorse ChaosMonkey's recommendation of Murder Mysteries. Anything Neil Gaiman or P. Craig Russell set their pens to tends to come out brilliantly.

The double drive of fear and anger drove him,
To draw with the sword, to catch her by the hair,
To pull the head back, to tie the arms behind her,
And Philomela, at the sight of the blade,
Was happy with hope, the thought of death,
Most welcome: her throat ready for the stroke.

But Tereus did not kill her; he seized her tongue...

being alone is literally my worst fear ever. I don't have dreams that are wierd and symbolic or too emotional, but the onyl times I do it's that I'm completely alone and peopel are acallign for me ut i can't find them. seriously, beign alone is teh most natural fear for humans, I think. worsee thatn death. death, that hapens, it's part of life, but a person can't really experience life when they are all alone.
-Sorry I can't make you less lonely than any other dude on the site who does't want you to be sad. guess the tat didn't help to much.

Yeah! Come to the party and stay with Jessica! She's trouble, I know, but she's a good kid. Miles are long, but they're only as long as you make them out to be. I hate having to feign excitement and interest in something. Bleah.
