So I made it back from Jamestown, NY (home of Lucille Ball, thank you). Arrived there at 9 pm on Friday to a locked up house.
While I'm related to half the damn city, or so it seems when I visit, I had no interest in driving to anyone else's house. Fortunately, my uncle, whose house I was staying at, is a bartender at a spot right beyond his backyard. Up I went.
He was surprised to see me, but handed me a Labatt and told me to get cozy. His wife showed up shortly after and I managed to be feeling pretty good by the end of the night.
Surprise party was the next day and it was 10X better than anyone could've expected. Rain cleared out and everyone made it, inckuding cousins I grew up with who I'd fallen out of touch with. One of those random events where everything kept getting better...so worth the drive. My Uncle's face, upon walking in front of the gathered party was similar to what anyone's might be if a unicorn came up and asked, "Would you like a ride?" That was the best part...he was really surprised and just plain overwhelmed by his friends and family that had gathered from all over the country.
Hope everyone else found something to smile about over the past 3 days.

you're lucky to have so many little kids in your life. Don't you just want to smile when you see their cute little faces?
