The economy sucks and it's going to get worse. GO TO SCHOOL. The GI bill provides enough for some living expenses in addition to tuition and books, etc. You earned it, use it. It will give the economy time to recover and will make you more marketable. If you really miss the military, consider ROTC. You might end up on scholarship and still collect your GI Bill.
If you don't want to do that, apply at security companies. They don't always advertise but are almost always looking for people. They end up having to hire a bunch of what we used to call "shitbirds" so when a vet comes along, they usually snap them up. The work's not hard and if you do well you move up quickly. This is what I did for two years after I got out. That was until I figured out I wasn't going very far without going to school. Unfortunately for me, I fell between the old and the new GI Bill so I had to pay for it myself.
Find the local office of your state's office of employment security. First, if you haven't already, apply for unemployment. Again, you're eligible and you've earned it. They also all have people whose job is to help vets leaving the service. They can point you to vet-friendly businesses where you'll have an edge and will help you apply for government jobs where, again, being a vet gives you a step up.
If you're set on going back, and I really do understand missing the lifestyle, consider the reserves or National Guard. It will give you some extra cash and even more benefits for going back to school. The guard is offering literally thousands of dollars in signing bonuses, especially for returning vets.
That's my say. Wishing you the best of luck in whatever you decide.
