Oh hello, Katy Perry.
Did you know that I think you're a tool? Hey, thanks for using fake, Girls Gone Wild-style bisexuality to gain fame and fortune. Thanks for reinforcing the frustrating and stupid stereotype that bisexual women are only doing it for attention, or as a phase, or to turn on men. Thanks! It's pretty awesome when people assume you aren't really attracted to...

do you ever eat fried chicken with honey?
Someone told me it was epic....I'd never heard of it but apparently it's not that uncommon.

Ask Tuff. He started it.
I just bought a new phone! I haven't had a phone I was excited about since I first got a cell phone when I was 17. It has internet and GPS and a touch screen. It's not an iPhone but it's the closest you can get with Sprint.

The classics are classic for a reason.
I went to see Frida Kahlo at MOMA today. Unbearably beautiful and heart-wrenchingly emotive. All these little tendrils of lace or veins or cursive writing or flame. The texture of the paint. She clearly had to paint, had to transfer her immense inner world into paint. Art doesn't always affect me very deeply, but seeing those paintings made me feel different, intensely connected to her....

I cannot ignore this any longer: why is Jeremy Piven a part of your profile pictures?
jena:
I love him too. I've been thinking I want to see Singles again just for that scene he's in. It was kind of a cameo but I recall it being like, screamy-laughing. It's nice that he's become a bonfied tourdeforce.
I wish Entourage was only focused on him and Lloyd.

Today my my Muni ride was actually pleasant. Maybe because I was a little drunk. There were cute kids, and I could hear Journey through someone else's headphones, and I saw a guy dancing like he was at a disco instead of standing on the platform in the heat. It was even kind of... fun.

Muni rides around here (or at least whenever I go into Philly) are pleasant. I don't think I have ever had a bad one.
I am back from Extreme Epic Roadtrip 2008 with Adam_Vincent.
We went to many places. Here is a list of them:
-Camping outside Eureka. We were supposed to camp in Humboldt National Forest but our directions were wrong and we ended up outside Eureka. Note to self: Google requires an exact address!
-Camping at the big sand dunes on the Oregon coast, near Coos Bay....

You're not creepy, though leaving your "drunk" panties at my house is sort of weird......
Glad you had fun, we did too! We'll make it down sometime. Though, it will probably be next year. We love you guys, so come anytime!
Did you love the honeyhole?

I was just there. Say hi to everyone at every McMennamin's (sp?) in a thirty mile radius for me.

Do you like Betsey Johnson?
I used to think I should save up my creativity and not waste it on things I didn't care about much.
Lately I'm learning that the more often you use your creativity, the more you have to create.
Everyone says you should write every day, even if only for ten minutes. I've been doing it for the last week and it gets easier and easier....

Not that it means anything, but I am always afraid if I stop writing, that part of my brain will stop working, and I will die.

You're ... you're here!
Let's say, hypothetically, I was to dye my hair a different color. What color might look good?
Oh, who am I kidding, I'm never going to dye my hair a different color. You'll pry my peroxide out of my shrivelled, balding hands.

Maybe you should just watch The Filth and the Fury instead.

He didn't even notice my post referring to him as "the bald guy." I hope to HELL he doesn't take you up on dissecting hardcore, oh no! I'm sure he has no idea what anything outside Sid & Nancy is.
Anyhoo! Salsa...such a perfect compliment to so many dishes.
MissBehave is pretty cute. Some of the pull quotes on this month's cover are "How to make every food taste good: DEEP FRY!" , "Lose 10 pounds: Or not, who cares" and "Perez Hilton is vomit." It's fashion, trends and good music, I think you would definitely dig its sasiness. Ohohohoh and it seems the only place you can snare it is Borders or Barnes & Noble.

I went canoeing with some SGSF friends. It was really fun. It was one of those days where every hour or so I would pause and think "Man, I am having a lot of fun!" It was not the usual bunch of people I do stuff with and it was good to get to know them better/ at all.

yeah, one of the other reasons i'm not going is cause i don't really care for a lot of the people that go to pop's anymore. i just don't feel like dealing with it. i'm sure it will be totally fun though. i haven't ruled it out 100 percent, but, almost.
annika:
That's a dangerous thing to hear coming from you. More often than not I'd expect it to be directed at a shithead.
So thank you, I think. You're quite awesome yourself.

That sounds like good hangover food, leave some at the airport for me around 4:30 today.
jena:
Ack, I never liked those.

Where are you thinking about grad school?
How did you get a job editing?
Answers:
University of Virginia
University of Oregon
University of Washington
Columbia University (probably not going to apply here anymore...sigh)
UC Berkeley
Rice University
Rutgers University
University of Michigan
again. Subject to change. Probably even later tonight when I actually get to work on this shit (w00t Saturday night.)
I found the job listing on Craigslist, but I sealed the deal because I was Chief Copy Editor for my college paper (and general awesomeness) Working for the paper gave me so much professional experience, even though overall I wouldn't call the paper professional. My job can be pretty tedious at times, but I'm so blessed that the company I work for has no The Office-esque drama.
I had to Google Kate Perry, but by your description I was pretty sure who it was. Arg. I should send you a poem I wrote about these kinds of women. I call them opportunists.
Edit: Holy hell! Longest comment ever!
Anyway, I want to go straight into my PhD for Literature, but I don't know if I'm qualified. I haven't published any academic work or anything, and I don't have a huge portfolio of research. Now, especially considering the GRE score, I might tack on a few masters programs just to be safe. I like writing creatively a lot, but I don't see myself as a good MFA candidate, and I don't want to be a career writer. I like the scholarly aspect of academics, and I really want to teach. I still write in my spare time though (which is none
I'm so lucky I fell into the copy editing gig at my university. Without it I would have had much more trouble landing that job (my employers told me so). I can't think of anything offhand, but I would recommend trying to get some sort of intern work at a local weekly paper. It might not pay (my work at the paper did, but it worked out to slave wages considering how many hours I pulled), but the experience could be pay enough.
