Today marks my first day as a full time, permanent employee with my current employer. This means I get sick days, holiday pay, bonuses, and the occasional day off.

Agreed. Working for the benefits is definitely not as much fun as one would hope, but it is nice to have paid days off and health benefits and stuff like that.
