A bureaucrat in a retro-future world tries to correct an administrative error and himself becomes an enemy of the state.
The nightmarish futuristic satire brazil effectively blurs all lines between illusion and reality. Jonathan pryce plays a
government statistician who chooses to blind himself to the decaying world around him
This is a very dark, very cynical look into the future from a couple of decades ago, which turned out to be relatively
accurate. All the issues addressed have come to fruition here in 2010
`Brazil' tells the complex story of a man named Sam Lowry who works for an intelligence agency working to fight terrorism.
When a mistake costs an innocent man his life, Lowry finds himself trapped in the center of government cover-up; something
that he seems almost nave to. When he falls in love (through his constant day-dreaming) with a belligerent woman seeking
justice, his life spirals out of control as he is forced to recognize the condition of his own country, something he has
feigned ignorance to for so long.
It combines future and retro elements with film noir - all of that is true, and describes it fairly well, but it is almost an anti-love story, because it ends sadly, and the protagonist ruins his life chasing his dream. it's funny, in a sad, twisted way
Not too much going on these days to be completely honest, just doing my usual routine of working and sleeping with some random activities in between.
I did have an idea for a future blog though and thought I would test-run the idea first...it would be some of the crazy things I either to get to hear or see at work. Some examples would be... Read More
Had a nice "date night" with Handsome_Jack Friday night. We had some awesome sushi and then watched Sucker Punch. The movie can be a bit jarring with how quickly it jumps into the fantasies of the girls, but it is visually stunning and I love the concept of it...why wouldn't you live in your mind if what was outside of it was awful?! Oh right,... Read More
thank you lady! there is a song of mine at facebook.com/harmondalejt and more to come soon. i miss the coolness of oregon already! it was great meeting you!
Ok, back to ranting. I am so tired of people coming in to where I work and bitching about how expensive everything is only to turn around and bitch about how we don't sell any "American" products. I actually heard something close to "well I'd probably faint if I saw anything in here made in the US" so I asked him "well, sir, would you... Read More
I actually don't have much to talk about this round...just hanging out and working...in between exciting events, I guess.
Oh, been watching my favorite cartoon of ALL time, Fullmetal Alchemist on Netflix. It's all free on streaming so go take a look! And listening to lots of AFI lately (the punk stuff, not so much the newer stuff) which is worth a listen if you... Read More
not having much to talk about has never stopped me before
Fullmetal Alchemist is the next anime series on our list. I'm excited about it as I've only heard positive things.
Days off are the best! I've been keeping so busy lately, it's nice to not have anything to do for (most of) the day.
So, some updates...
Met up with Lorelei on Monday and she is awesome! Such a sweetheart, so if you haven't said "hi" yet, you should. So we were thinking that my parents house would be perfect because it has good lighting... Read More
so, I have been getting some...interesting PMs lately which bring me to two things that I feel the need to address.
The first is that I am NOT on SG because I am looking for sexual partners, am bored and want to discuss my sex life with strangers, or would like to be blatantly treated as a sexual object. I joined SG and started doing... Read More
It has been confirmed, Handsome_Jack and I will be seeing The Kills and Rammstein the second week of May, and it will be AWESOME! And towards the end of March we will be doing a road trip up to Portland to (hopefully) find our new apartment! YAY!
I really, really cannot wait to move. I love being by my family and the area is very pretty, but I am so over dealing with the people! I swear I am in a Mecca for uneducated people...and stubborn elderly people, but that's another story. I just want to be up in Portland where the people are more progressive or at least open-minded... Now me... Read More
Spent the weekend house-sitting with Handsome_Jack. It was so much fun getting to make a nice meal together! Most of the time I just kind of hunt for something that tastes good with minimal time and effort, but it' actually really nice to take the time if you have someone great to do it with.
Which brings me to my next topic of pictures.... Read More
trying to get into school counseling, which is really really tight right now. extremely tight (about 100 people apply for each open position). so it really sucks!
as for the rest....ehh, I deal. I've learned that through the years.
It's getting warmer out and I have my house to myself (and the animals) for a week starting on Wednesday...I'm thinking some more pictures are in my future.
Oooh, found out Lorelei might be coming out my way; how fantastic would it be to do a shoot with her?! She is amazing!
Debating on whether or not to celebrate the Hallmark Holiday known as Valentine's Day. I certainly think St. Valentine was an asshole, but I like the idea of flowers and candy... decisions, decisions...
Been listening to more podcasts lately. Just started my first WTF with Mark Maron (comedian, but he does more serious interviews) where he interviewed Gallagher and wow, that guy is a piece... Read More
