We seem to be pretty lucky here in Oz. There are a bunch of exceptionally talented photographers who are also great people and will shoot with a huge variety of models regardless of shape, size, colour or skill level. The trouble from SG's perspective though is that, as a business, they're looking for things that offer a positive return on investment. They'll buy what is marketable, and this will generally tend towards certain archetypes. Personally I wish this wasn't the case, but the realist in me won't allow me to not acknowledge it. About the only way to combat this trend is to support models who don't necessarily fit the trend, as well as the photographers who shoot with them. Changing the mind of the mob isn't easy though..

I don’t really know if there is a single definition of beauty anymore. What was “beautiful” in the 50s isn’t today. To quote a Supreme Court Justice, “I cannot explain what it is, but I know it when I see it”.  I do think that a woman’s personality adds to it. A woman can be outwardly beautiful and then she opens her mouth and turns ugly. Whatever a woman’s race, size, etc. a beautiful woman, is a beautiful woman.
