I am slightly cranky. I'm trying to find a new place to rent before winter comes, since my heating is so expensive here. It's a little frustrating.

There is a thing on TV about axes and lumberjacks and logs.

You're too young to remember it, but Wide World of Sports used to periodically show these lumberjack competitions. Life was different when there were only three channels. biggrin

I'm back!

I spent the last week without electricity, due to having gas heat, which is so expensive right now that I couldn't afford to pay. A surly fellow came and shut off my electricity. They turned it back on late Friday, after I paid a ton of stupid fees.

It was mostly inconvenient and frustrating, but it was also sort of nice not to...

And the evening and the morning were the first day.

I was at burning man this past august. The camp next to us was blasting awful pop music most of the night and day. Then, all of a sudden, on comes that bizarre tuba-driven song of yours from the video.

It made me want to dance around like an idiot.

I have a lazy eye I inherited from my Scottish grandfather. I like to creep people out with it.

Things I hate:

-Commercials where things are "clinically proven to work"
-Babies named Madison
-Babies named Aiden

There's also this commercial that goes sort of like this:

(Break room at an office)
Woman One: Oh, what's that you're eating?
Woman Two (eating some microwave thing): It's parmesan-encrusted FISH!

It drives me and Thom crazy that she doesn't specify what sort of fish it is. It's...

I know a boy named Aiden, but he was named Aiden before it was cool. His brothers have similarly non-generic names.

Yeah I hate the Lean Cuisine commercials. Can you imagine all the chemicals in that stuff?

I just started seeing ads from the Corn Refiners Association promoting high fructose corn syrup as a totally okay and "natural" product. I was and am so so so mad.

There's a lot more . . . I'm sort of cantankerous.

I wanna meet the people who actually buy into those commercials and ask them,,,why.

Ha, check out this serendipitity-doo-dah:

On NOVEMBER 22, 2007 @ 10:04 PM I posted a blog about getting glasses. I had been missing my glasses, which I seriously need to, like, live, for a very long time. They had mysteriously vanished and I'd resolved that they were gone forever. I decided to get new ones. In the meantime, I was very squinty.

I put it...

Picard sure does hate the Borg.

Edit: Auuuuurgh, The Inner Light is on next! This is the only one I can't watch. Too sad. Changing the channel. Oh god.

Edit: Ooo! Planet of the Apes!

Haha!
Do you blame him?
The Inner Light is one of the best eps, but you're right, it's very sad.

And that is why I heart you so hard.

After my first SG set, I thought these underpants had gone to the big underwear drawer in the sky, but it turns out I was wrong!

I found these whilst emptying my drawers. Wait, that sounds wrong. Anyhoo, my sentimental instinct paid off, and now I'm passing the...

I start a new job tomorrow and I'm a little nervous. It's a position with the newspaper as a digital librarian. I'll be archiving decades of news articles with a special program, assigning them keywords, and helping people do research. I'm very excited but also nervous.

I also wanted to post this for the last time. They've been bid up to $25:

the dress you inquired about is Boston Proper and its 95% rayon and 5% spandex, had a little heavy feel to it.

Once again some interesting options there.
