Im sorry for your loss and break up. I lost my pup Feb 27th which was my fathers birthday and my pup Bella was originally his and I got her when he passed away in 2018 so it was really odd that on his birthday this year my dog passed away. It wasn't due to a lingering condition or sickness, she got bloat and I had to have her put to sleep that night. It messed me up bad and I still havent gotten over her passing. I dont think I will for some time. My animals are more like family to me than just an animal especially my Bella because she was very special and so in tune with me it was crazy. I have manic depressive Bi Polar II disorder and have many bad days but she was the one thing that would pull through those times when I was really down of just having a bad day. She was such a sweet pup and I never had to worry about her running away or anything because wherever I was that's where she wanted to be, I mean one time my dad took her to a friend's house which was only down the street and I guess Bella had had enough of being there because there she was sitting at the front door looking in the window like hey I'm home let me in and I could leave the front door open but she didn't cate unless I was out front and then she'd want to be there. She was my shadow and I dont know how to feel without her.
