okay, seriously. more than one person responded to my last journal entry by revealing that they drink INSTANT COFFEE. guys! why? why do you do it?

coffee is a beautiful sensuous experience. good coffee is rich in flavour, deep and aromatic and a delight to the senses - it is to be savoured and enjoyed. and believe it or not, you can savour and enjoy...

"also, i don't know whether you can find fair-trade (or organic) instant coffee, but believe me, it IS worth buying coffee that the farmers were paid decent money for. i certainly wouldn't want to spend my life raising a difficult crop for peanuts after being pushed off of my land by a big corporation. i don't think it's fair of anyone to push that life on any other human being. we owe other living creatures more than that. even if you who don't care about the well-being of the animals whose habitats are damaged by these irresponsible and negligent cash crops, you probably can't justify not being morally obligated to reduce harm to humans. pesticide runoff into water sources, desecration of arable land that could be used for local food production, and colonial/corporate oppression on local cultures are NOT THINGS YOU CAN JUSTIFY SUPPORTING. i don't care WHO you are."

Well said girl. Cheers to this (and no worries, the coffee I cheers you with is of the non-instant variety smile )

i just finished up the last of my schoolwork for the semester, with the exception of three exams i have yet to write, while sitting...

Try putting the milk in first and then the coffee powder, microwave it till it melts together then add a little bit of hot water. That works for me unless i am in fact the soy wizzard.

last night was the vegan pizza competition. ten pizzas. i won the "second piece" category with my "tuscan afternoon" pizza: garlic white sauce, sundried tomatoes, artichoke hearts, fried mushrooms, pine nuts, and vegan "chicken" seitan. absolutely amazing and so very greasy.
other amazing pizzas: veggie samosa pizza with mango chutney, tofu jerky smoky surprise pizza with pineapple and carmelized onions, "thaitanic"...

i want to spend my summer painting and making music, not working so i don't have to get another student loan in september. i want to spend my summer sipping lemonade in the backyard of my beautiful new house, not sitting in a fluorescent-lit office with no window and a glitter tapestry of a racecar driver. i want to spend my summer giggling with my...

so i've been saying this for most of the winter, and nobody's believed me. in vancouver we've had an unusually cold and snowy winter - over christmas we got FEET of snow, and it went down significantly below freezing, which is unusual here. usually vancouver winters are rain, rain, rain and an average temperature of four degrees or so.

snow. snow. cold. ugh.
so i...

Fucking insane like yours. I think it's going to have to be spontaneous when we can for now. Plus I have no car so we'll have to do the transit or bike thingy.

I'm ok with that though.
