Quick explanation in case you didn't already get it from your doctor: Mitral valve prolapse is when the valve on the left side of the heart doesn't quite open all the way. The left side of the heart sends the oxygenated blood from the lungs to your whole body. An ECG for 24 hours is a really good idea and will let them know if anything is up - because even slight changes in the heart's blood supply or workings is reflected in the tracings. The chest pain that in some cases radiates to the left arm is just a weird artifact of the way the body senses pain - it's just in the way the neurons are wired up.

I would definitely say go through your insurance. I have gone the out-of-pocket route and gotten screwed in that deal. At least if you go through insurance and the repairs are not done correctly then insurance covers it to be done again. But, as has been said, if you can get it inspected cheaply and make sure there's no hidden structural damage and you are fine with it as is, then skip the whole thing.

The best is to have a mechanic check the car fully get and estimate for the repair, then check your insurance to see what you deductible is on your policy. Armed with this information go to the person who hit the car and see if they want to work a cash deal for the repairs, if they do get it in writing and notarized. I have had this happen to my 3 times living in AZ, I got burned twice being nice and letting somone make payments. Good Luck.

I know exactly what you mean about becoming yourself again. It didn't happen immediately after I stopped using drugs and stopped hanging around people who didn't care about me and only wanted to use me and hurt me emotionally. It was at least a few years after, that I began to feel something inside me begin to awaken. It's been years since I have done drugs and I still continue to find myself. Good for you for finding yourself again and enjoy the experience!
