So, it seems like this weeks blog homework is a popular topic. I mean, who doesn't like getting on their soap box and talking about their pet peeves? Well, I am no exception, and after some thought I've decided that my biggest pet peeves involve pets.

Working in animal rescue, I see a lot of things that make me shake my head. These are the...

I agree with you totally on the toy dog bullshit. One thing that bugs me is kind of an equal rights thing, that is, can I come into your establishment with my 90-pound German Shepherd/Black Lab mutt? If not, I don't want to see a toy dog here. I've seen toy dogs on planes too, and all I can do is sympathize for anyone who has allergies.  On a side note, and I don't mean to offend anyone if they practice this, but I abhor it when people dress their dogs in sweaters... the animal invariably looks miserable. I also find it silly when people walk their cats on a leash... and people in the city who have "outdoor" cats, especially here in Canada... during the winter. It's so sad to see cats go sit under a recently parked car to catch some heat from the engine.

@iggy You are so right. A dog isn't a fashion object or something to compensate a thing with. Buy a car is you need that compensation.

Yesterday, I had quite possibly the best Thanksgiving I've had in over a decade. Normally, Thanksgiving and Christmas are days of massive depression for me. I remember last Thanksgiving I spent the day avoiding my family drinking Wild Turkey and watching Mystery Science Theater 3000 Turkey Day Marathon online.

But yesterday I spent the day with my dogs, my foster dogs, the dogs I'm pet...

I'm taking a page from the book of @ameline and showing off my bum. I think that's the best butt selfie I've ever taken. (But mine can not at all compare to her positively perfect posterior.) Look, you can see my birthmark!

Anyway...this blog's a long one, but I promise it's good. If you're pressed for time I left a TL;DR at the bottom.

Hello there, everyone. It's been a while, hasn't it? Suddenly, you turn around and the trees are nothing but bones and you think, "Where did all the time go?"

A lot has been going on in the land of Iggy. There was the SG burlesque show, which was amazing. Those ladies are pretty kick ass!

Last weekend we did a transport of puppies and dogs...

I know exactly what you mean with the Bipolar thing. It sucks and is SUCH a frustrating thing to deal with, especially when people are ignorant of your struggles and don't give you the benefit of the doubt in your times of trouble. You can always vent to me if need be, although I'm sure your boyfriend is good at listening as well. Hope things turn around for you soon!
iggy:
Thanks @tink26, you're a real sweetheart.

@absolutelyzero, that's why I don't foster cats. Bastet is not too keen on other cats in the house. Occasionally, I'll have one here in a carrier for a few hours en route to a new home/foster and she hisses and wails at it the entire time. Dogs, however, she loves. In fact, I'm pretty sure she thinks she's a dog. I bring a dog in the house and she goes right up to it, no matter its size, and bumps it with her little noggin. @schiavona, I don't have the new foster yet. There's some red tape afoot. But I'll have her soon. She's safe at the moment at the vet being boarded, so there's not too much of a hurry to get her out.

@iggy Our cat thinks he is a German Shepard. Fostering isn't easy, it is allways saying goodbye. Done it a few times in the past, but when the had to leave always with tears. Have a great weekend!!!

So I decided to give up on Facebook...I think anyway. I still have a profile, but so far I have managed to successfully stay away for over 24 hours. Anyone who knows me well enough knows that I'm addicted to scrolling through the endless, monotonous, idiotic posts so being able to make it over a day without checking it is a pretty sizable achievement.

The...

It could take a year to do this FB subject justice. I quit FB cold a couple of years ago the only negative is I know less of what is going on in the lives of a few people I care about. Concerning facts not bothering people I had a blogpost about this here on SG. There is evidence from psychological studies that people who identify themselves as conservative DO NOT use facts in decision making (the story of why I deleted it is long and boring). About people who did shitty things, I had a kid who followed me home from school and spit on me the whole way as a FB "friend". I also was a creep into some people's lives and I discovered another kid who was shitty to me died an early death and it was days before I felt any twinge of compassion for how painful spoiled assed rich kids lives can be (I should be a better person as old as I am) .  About bi-polar fucking hell I am so happy I have unipolar depression. My heart goes out to you. For breaking a depression interestingly there is evidence that staying up all night for one night can sometimes help (dunno if it did with the dog transport). You won't regret quitting FB.

to me it's more like "I'm hotter than I used to be and they would die to see me now."

(There's some southern slang that I've adopted. Y'all is one example.)

We're quickly approaching the death knell of Autumn here in the south. It is almost too chilly now at night to remain outside long without wearing a proper coat. Soon, we will be waking up to a thin veil of frost covering the ground. The trees along the roads are more skeletons than anything...

At first: have a great weekend! Autumn is a beautiful period, seeing the leaves changing colours being at home enjoying reading a great book that makes this time of year so special. The cold not always fun but most of the time love it.

Happy November 2nd everyone!! I slept most of yesterday, so I feel that it never really happened. Sleeping all day after a wild night is what happens when you get older. Sigh. I remember when I used to be able to stay out all night, go to work, then do it again the next night.

My Halloween was thoroughly eventful. I definitely didn't let the...
