Still in LA for the American Idol auditions.....waited in line forever on Sunday morning just to register.....

This really isn't my thing....the auditions are just like this damn city....all about image and commercialism.....which is, in all honesty, the reason I don't live in this area. Go figure. I'll do what I do at the actual auditions tomorrow but even if they like me I doubt...

So, as I may have mentioned, I'm a karaoke addict. An old karaoke friend invited me to try out for American Idol with him in LA next week. I agreed. My friends wife got a GREAT deal from a NYC school board they paid for her to go to Columbia in exchange for 1.5 years of service verse education (1 year school = 1.5 years of work) Here is the cool part. Public school systems are so desperate for speciality teachers and aids** that you can write your own ticket. Her time working off her schooling was as a full paid, fully benefitted employ. Plus they needed her so badly she could do anything (long vacations, 3 or 4 day work weeks) and they would let. Something to look into.

**Federal laws says that if they have a special needs child they MUST have the proper teaching staff to go with it. So what ends up happening a lot is that they hire outside service which is outrageously expensive.
