There is a problem with your reasoning, timing. While it is likely that there is more than a single compatible person for each of us; geography and social comforts make it unlikely that you will find one within your existing group of friends.
I believe there's a misconception that you must continoually date in order to find the right person. Why not take a break or take your time to learn and understand what type of guy you want and potentials that come along.
