Replacing heads, sticks and cymbals is a far more expensive habit than crack.....
Try looking for used cymbals first- I try and buy them whenever possible, you shouldn't pay more than 75 bucks for anything used.....much better than retail/brand new stuff.

there is this rasta guy who sits up on top of a hill in prospect park every weekend with his drum and plays and plays and plays until the sun goes down.
it's just amazing!
drums are such a powerful sound.
there is this group that performs in the subways (usually at the broadway/lafayette station) and there have been times when i was listening to them while waiting for the train.. and i was brought to tears. it's just so amazing to feel people catch each other's groove and take it up a level and keep feeding off each other.
just amazing.
