thanks again for hookin it up last night. you rock.
pharmakeus:
sarah,

i take it those books from the oh-so-sexy "smarts" photo sets weren't just props.

if you've been diggin springstein's "nebraska" record, which i just love, & not just cuz i'm a native cornhusker, be sure to check out the short essay "four more years" and others about 'the boss' by greil marcus. they were republished in RANTERS & CROWD PLEAERS: PUNK IN POP MUSIC, 1977-92, a book that was republished by Harvard University Press as IN THE FASCSIT BATHROOM, PUNK IN PUP MUSIC, 1977-92. the book is just great on the whole, with other great rock crit on PiL, New Order, the Mekons, & Elvis Costello among others.

anyway, if you've got any recommended reading, lemme know.

cheers!

Still looking. Re-reading Huck Finn. Yes, I know, we read it in 8th grade. But still, I'm having a rafting jones. I want to get on a raft and drift bored over days and weeks down some long river.

god, has it been three months since i've written? i guess i've been busy moving about the country. i had to get out of new york...the heat and nightly crack dealer fights outside my window got to be tiresome.
getting back to san francisco felt real good. i always miss eating bagels in dolores park and riding bikes over to third street...

hey y'all...so here i am, back on the east coast. i went to coney island today and walked around in a thunder storm and made a short movie with a bunch of portland kids. it's been kind of day by day for me, sometimes being back on the east coast makes me feel crazy, but sometimes it's totally inspiring.

cherie is totally right. having lived in both portland and providence, I can attest that they are awesome in very similar ways. you should come for a visit and we'll all ride bikes and have warehouse parties and vegan cookouts and pick-up games of kickball. maybe we'll even run into one of the brians.

also, wow, zeigenbock kopf is insane. right on.

so, i'm leaving for new york for 2 months and i am hiding away on my last day here. i guess i hate the pressure of saying bye to people when i'm going to be back before they even know it. i'm excited to be in consistantly warm weather and to be around passionate, motivated individuals. i also get to go visit...
