girl, if i had your legs, i'd be a happy happy woman.

you would have LOVED the "Big E" eastern seaboard exposition fair this past week. fried dougnuts on a dough base covered in fried oil and dough.

mmf. yesterday i wore one of my favorite items of clothing: a skintight black denim jumpsuit. with stilletto-heeled boots, i feel like such a crimefighter in it. jumpsuits are a little cheesy, but they're also amazing because it means you don't have to coordinate an outfit. and they're sexy as fuck. note to self: buy more jumpsuits.

actually, i'm planning on hitting up the local...

the more i listen to "Dance Party With... This Bike is a Pipe Bomb," the more convinced i become that i need to spend a touch more time in Florida. good Lord, i've spent some time in Pensacola, but i never would have expected such things to be birthed from its sweaty loins. hurrah!

i have so much seething, gorgeous hatred in me, but

i love it when Scylla comes over.

i am usually the first to pick up on memes, but only today did i discover this. blame it on school in general, and Henry Kamen's The Spanish Inquisition specifically. but, man, i am totally mesmerized. MUSHROOM MUSHROOM!

we'll get your party boppin' like a furious game of whack-a-mole. LIKE WHOA.

i have nothing of consequence to say....

and, like that, the rains return to Portland.

there's a land, Aruanda,

silver stars on the hilltop
take me to Aruanda
lots of fish in the stream there
lots of time just to dream there
golden sun in the valley
take me to Aruanda
there where nobody worries
there where nobody hurries
easy life waving a welcome
take me there!

"At a fancy-dress ball in Monte Carlo some years ago, there was a contest for the best imitation of Charlie Chaplin. The chaps who won first, second, and third prizes must have all been very talented, and certainly pleased the audiencesbut none of them really equaled the art of the man who only won fourth. That loser was Charlie himself, who had heard about the...

RAW has good stuff. Same for Tim Leary and others.
Check out the "eastern religion" group out some time. There's plenty of good reading recommendations.

Speaking of conspiracies, there's quite a few good stories regarding the introduction of LSD into the mainstream society via the CIA and US army experiments.

so, i'm sure you're all titillated to hear about all of my exciting classes.

RUSSKI: i'm taking first year russian language, because a)i love languages b) russian is the badassest of the languages i don't know that is offered at my school. it appears to be quite difficult, and so far i've only been learning the alphabet. hoo-fucking-ray for a challenge!

Good luck with Russian. I had a minor fascination with everything Russian when I was young and loved Tom Clancy.

I think I still love Tom Clancy, but I remember very little Russian.

Or birthdays.
squashpicker:
hullo again, dearie,

your classes sound loverly. i took a class spring of frosh year on religion of the atlantic world, 1400-1650ish, which talked quite a bit about Iberian Catholicism and its interactions with religious worldviews indiginous to Africa and the Americas. There's at least one book from that course that you might find useful/fun that deals just with 15th century iberian catholicism (what people believed, how they practiced their faith, gleaned from some great sources - the big theme i remember was the emphasis on saints and the practical benefits of appearling to them rather than on salvation doctrine). I'll dig up the title and author later.

and, er, read my newest post if you haven't already tongue

and if you can't boule anybody else, you have to boule yourself.

so it's the first day of classes. we've replaced studious, well-fed, lonely Flux with a mildly-exhausted, slightly hungover, extremely happy Flux. let's see if she notices!

i really like this picture from my sleepcam

I liked the sleepcam, but at first I couldn't see nothing. It was a combination of lack of sleep, bad eyesight and a bad monitor. Then I worked out what I was seeing!

Your sleepcam was on in the background as inspiration while me and my guitarist made our new CD cover.

School for me next week. Learning, good!

I'll pick pool over boule right at the moment, especially as it's free at Fern's, the punk rock dive bar within walking distance of my house.

That's it. I've missed a lot by not having internet access at home for the past two months, but missing FluxTV sleepycam? That's the last straw. Not that I can do anything about it at the moment, still being broke as coldly and as bleakly as dawn at the beach, but maybe if I cut out the rest of my food and live entirely off of tea...
