For me, it’s the little things. On my last trip to Japan, I was waiting for a train in Osaka. I noticed an interaction between a young woman (late teens early twenties) and a couple of station attendants (much older). Apparently she had dropped her phone on the tracks, and the station attendants jumped into action. One of them went and got a long grabber tool, and after a couple of failed attempts, managed to get ahold of it. Brought it up to where his colleague could grab it, and gave it back to the young woman. They exchanged pleasantries and went on their opposite ways. Then the young woman suddenly stopped, turned, and gave the two station attendants a full bow. She turned and took a few more steps, then turned and did it again. The station attendants were walking in the opposite direction and had no clue as to her actions. She did it anyway. No one noticed this but me. Why doesn’t the rest of the world act like this? Almost brought me to tears!
