I found some yellow wildflowers on my farm. I harvested some yellow tomatoes and yellow pear tomatoes from my garden. And my 96 Dodge farm truck is yellow. And my pumpkin pie I made today is yellow.
I'd love to start a thread of Indigenous writers, Indigenous poets, Indigenous books etc. Or if you're a writer, post your work below!
Joy Harjo was poet laureate of the united states for 3 years in a row, and the first indigenous poet to hold that title. I recently finished her book An American Sunrise, most of the poems surround the beauty and struggles of the Mvskoke people/her ancestors. Really moving poems.
As of yet, I'm still what most would consider a "nobody" but watch out, cuz I'm coming up quickly - I'll be self-publishing 3 poetry books in the next 2 months! Written, edited, "cover-arted" and published solo by an indigenous crippled guy who is far too fond of frybread thighs and skoden eyes lol! I hope you enjoy my blog, follow, and know that all mutually respectful thoughts, critiques, and conversation is welcome and encouraged!
