So it was my birthday this week and I think it must rank up there as the worst birthday ever.
Firstly, I had to go into work. Work sucks at the moment so that wasn't fun. The only good thing was that I had a flexi-half-day available so I took the afternoon off.
Came home to find one card delivered which brought the grand total to 4 - that's how many people cared.
I then made the stupid mistake of going to see The Last Kiss at the cinema (on my own). It's a great film but given where my mind is at the moment, it probably wasn't the best choice of flick.
Finally, badminton was cancelled so I didn't even get to celebrate on the day with any of my friends.
To be fair to my friends, we did go out last Saturday and that turned out to be a good night. The only problem was that I had convinced myself that if I saw any women that I liked that I would at least attempt to talk to them, buy them a drink - do something!!!! But I failed my test. There were beautiful girls every place I went to and I did fuck all.
This weekend I went to Linlithgow on a work night out. It was a local pub's beer festival. Great fun was had by all but it definitely wasn't the type of place to pull. It was a total old man's pub.
Anyway - a great amount of alcohol was consumed so it was all good.
Yesterday sucked. One of those typical Saturdays were I don't see or speak with anyone that I know. It happens a lot and it's horrid.
It's times like these that I wish I had been given the chance to escape to the U.S. Unfortunately that opportunity is not going to ever come - and that sucks as well. An example of my company saying one thing and doing another.
The coming month should be good. I've three gigs to look forward to: Wolfmother, Fishbone and Tool.
On a side note, I'm currently reading a great book - No God But God by Reza Aslan. It covers the origins, evolution and future of Islam. There's been a lot of negative press regarding Islam at the moment and I felt it was proper to read up on the religion so that I can have a more balanced opinion.
So far it's been a very interesting read. To sum it all up so far, the Islamic faith was never meant to put down women, it was never anti-Christianity or anti-Judaism. Unfortunately (as with a lot of religion), when Mohammed died, other people started to twist the religion to suit there own means and that's where a lot of the contentious stuff comes from. I don't think the Crusades or Western Colonialism helped with their disliking of Christianity but I've not got to that yet.
That's all for today.
