I picked up the book Mix Tape: The Art of Cassette Culture edited by Thurston Moore, anyone seen it, heard about it or read about it? It's a nice (if a bit over priced) book on the art and culture of the Mix Tape.....

I am new to mixing and would like to know where I can find some good free/ not free tools. What do you use? or is it better to pay for some mixing tools? Current DAW is Reaper and Sonar! Thx!

get waves v.9/mercury bundle. waves has best analyzers and compression tools.... hands down.

For Windows, Cubase won't break the bank like ProTools, and has lot of cool features and easy to use. If you're mixing for a commercial release and this is your first crack at mixing you might want to hire someone or at least partner with someone. Mixing is a pain in the ass and not as easy as it seems.
