I'm not sure about a home remedy, but i would take the valuble pieces in for a professional cleaning.... better not to ruin them.... good luck!

When I was working as a gold smith, I'd have to repair the worst stuff. Things caked with decayed skin, years of buildup from hand creams.

I once had a chain that stank like a motherfucker. I put it in the boric acid/pickling compound we'd use before soldering, then scrubbed it with dish soap. That seemed to get rid of it.
Mind you , you can only do it with silver, gold, platinum, copper and bronze/brass.
The glass and stones shouldn't bother anything as long as the metals are non-ferrous.
Check with your local jewelry shop, particularly if they have an in-store smith.

I have a collection of vintage and modern jewellery and I'm always looking for advice on re-stringing, cleaning, where to find good bargains etc.

Prince Albert in my pants!!! wink

So, I've had a Prince Albert for, a long time... over thirteen years at this point. And I've always kept just a plain captive bead ring or curved barbell in it. Recently I've seen some really cool new jewelry for PAs and I'm thinking about getting something different.

It's not as though I whip it out on a regular basis...
