Read the book "Arnhem" written by Robert Urquhart. The general of the 1st British Parachute Division. It was a strange ride from best humor and a supposed fight against old man and boys on bikes to a piece of land around Oosterbeek, blood, sleeplesness, hundreds of wounded and a disgraceful retreat over the Rhine. I seldom felt so much preassure in a book feeling the shrinking lines of defence and a very skilled and good foe. A lesson about carelessness which took many lifes.
