Cat people.

No, not the movie.

The site. It seems overrun with cat people. (I know, this is not a new observation.) I guess cats are not all bad. They eat rats, after all. smile

But where are the dog people? I'm a dog person. (Except I can't lick my own... well, never mind.)

I'll be spending time cat-sitting soon, so cats are on my mind....

I dont like white cats. They are always losing hair and it make my black skirts look white. I dont like black cats either. They make my white skirts look black. I dont like cats of any other shade too. They all look evil. Pure evil.

"Rain, rain, go away...
Come again some other day..."

Or better yet, some other place. There are droughts in the world... send our rain to them. We can spare a few weeks of our rain for those more in need. In fact, the way things are going, we can spare the next few months' worth... smile

Finished reading "Quicksilver" (Neal Stephenson, 2003). Still don't really know what it is about. That is, I know what it said, but it didn't seem to add up to anything. His other books have at least a semblance of a plot with a beginning, a middle, and an end (even though, with some, you might have to read 300 pages before seeing where it's going)....

Point ta......hmmm...forget it. Honestly I was pretty much just venting and Im sure that I make it out to be worse than it is. But the important thing is that you bothered to post anything at all. In the end thats really what I needed. Just someone to say something, good or bad.
mattereaterlad2:
he's already finished the other two, but i think he's forcing you to wait a year for them...have i said this already?

re this way to the egress: when i was in elementary school, i did a book report on a bio of pt barnum. we all had to wear costumes. my mom even made me a bald wig for it.

"Quicksilver", by Neal Stephenson:

An odd book. I'm on page 650 (of 900), and I still don't know what it's about. Maybe it's not about anything. Or maybe it'll all come together in the last 250 pages.

Still worth reading, just for the dialog and the word etymologies. (There's also some entomology.) Stephenson should write plays or screenplays (as well as novels).

Side note: you'll...

So, as usual, I'm sitting in front of my computer wondering where everybody is, and why there are no cams active. Then I remember, "Oh, yeah. It's Saturday evening. Cool people go out to parties and clubs and stuff." That thought has gone through my head several Saturday nights in a row, now.

well you canadians are always sending your damn crappy weather down here for discipline and training - so ya go ahead.

Keep in mind our training methods are not sanctioned by the National Weather Service and may be considered extreme - now stop staying in on the weekends and wander the streets drunk

I was reminded of these lines recently... they're possibly my favourite 2 lines of English verse. I'm sure everybody already knows them, but anyway...
adelina:
...The old that is strong does not wither,
Deep roots are not reached by the frost.
From the ashes a fire shall be woken,
A light from the shadows shall spring;
Renewed shall be blade that was broken,
The crownless again shall be king...

Those 2 lines you mentioned above are one of my favorites as well -- probably only second to a particular verse in Milton's Paradise Lost that I absolutely adore.

So... National Geographic released a special issue a few months ago (well, quite a few, now) on photography of animals. The '100 best wildlife pictures' issue. Some of the shots are pretty amazing.

One of them in particular catches my eye. There's a snake... sort of... gliding through the air. It somehow flattens its body so that it can glide as if it were... well......

I just started grad school this semester. I'm still very much a newbie when it comes to the what's, where's, why's, and how's of the archival systems and storage retrieval organization/management of libraries/museums. Sorry to disappoint.

adelina:
When I was a little kid I always liked receiving the maps that (usually) comes with each National Geographic issue. I still have them stashed away at home.

Snakes and other serpents have such a terrible reputation, but they are darn cool animals. They can eat rats in one big gulp wink biggrin
