In the film, the zombies having taken over the world and those left alive are confined to a walled-in city that keeps out the corpse corps. Anarchy rules the streets, with the wealthy insulated and living in fortified skyscrapers. The drama revolves around a group of scavengers who must thwart an attempt to overthrow the city while the dead are evolving from brainless slow-moving creatures into more advanced creatures.

Peaceful, rustic Berkeley is a charming fishing community where life is sweet and the people friendly. All that is about to change. Suddenly, an avalanche of meteorites races through the sky, bombarding the town and bringing an otherworldly infection. Departing is going to be much more difficult than she had planned.
The living dead are awakened and Rene is now caught in a nightmare of zombies hungry for human flesh. She manages to find salvation in a small isolated farm house owned by the town loony, Marion. There she is met with four other desperate survivors. Together they battle their way through a plague of walking dead and discover that there is more transpiring than just an infection.

The film follows a couple young female friends who decide to visit a family home only to have the family murdered in the middle of the night by an intruder. As the killer leaves the home with one of the girls as a hostage, the other girl follows the man back home. The movie is basically set during one night where the girl follows the killer back home, while witnessing more murder and mayhem along the way.

HorrorChannel.Com: A while back we first told you about a new film that Toolbox Murders writers Jace Anderson and Adam Gierasch are writing for Tobe Hooper, which at the time was being described as zombies meets Deliverance, dealing with a mine that had collapsed years earlier, trapping some miners inside, and what happens when the mine is re-opened. There was no title at the time, but the idea was there and it sounded cool enough.
This morning I got an e-mail from Jace with not only the poster you see below for the film, but word that the script has changed dramatically since we first reported on it, that theyre re-shaping it in some very cool ways and hoping to bring some new blood to the world of the undead. Shooting is expected to start in June for Tobe Hoopers Zombies, a title that just sounds way too good rolling off the ole tongue.
More info on the film very soon, for now here is some cool artwork!
